Default Swine Flu might be here

Two kids at Heritage Elementary may have swine flu and all of the Madison City and County and I believe Huntsville schools are closed until Monday.

Looks like Heritage will remain closed next week. I read that 2 may be infected but several others are complaning of respiratory problems. The first 8 samples were negative for swine flu. The suspected samples are being sent for further testing.

I was just reassuring my kids at dinner tonight that this is no different than the regular flu that we never hear about. They go to Heritage.

I am wondering if the first U.S. cases are now better. I haven't heard of the length of the illness or anything else about it.

Is this swine-flu threat overblown? I know they are taking precautions based on the threat of an unknown virus but is there any evidence yet that this virus is significantly more dangerous than regular flu especially in the U.S.? In Mexico the situation seems a lot worse 150 people died but do we yet have an accurate number of how many people really were affected. if its only a few thousands than 150 people out of that number is a very high mortality rate, but if the real infected number in Mexico was closer to hundreds of thousands than 150 is not that high of a number. It's always good to take precautions in case the threat really does get serious the problem is if this threat was overblown the next time something happens the public won't take it as serious. I hope they are reiterating that they are only taking precautions and that right now there isn't cause to panic so people won't get confused.

I had to go get some prescriptions refilled tonight and was surprised to see people wearing masks. Was also annoyed that the panic over swine flu also made it take a lot longer to get my normal meds refilled. I was sniffling and coughing over some allergy problems and probably panicked the people sitting next to me....didn't think anything of it till later. I didn't know we'd had cases actually reported here.
