This was a long time ago on campus interview. Because I grew up in NYC so I can talk like "black folks" with my quick-wits & sense of humor, I had that company recruiter laughing so hard the entire time. At the end, he reached out and say "Listen, you're a great guy but the honest truth is that I can not hire you because you're not black. This is a black-owned company and everyone works there are black. Even though I could see that you will have no trouble fitting in, they'd fire me if I invite you for a plant interview". I knew that going in but still appreciated his candor, so I said that was cool, we shook hands and that was that.
My point is, discrimination is a 2-way street. Don't think you're the only people that was oppressed. The Jews has a more recent history than the black of being prosecuted but you don't read them crying having 'unique' issues and demand their own forums.

I know discrimination was a 2-way street I agree that definitely was discrimination but creating something geared towards a group is not discrimination. Reverse discrimination even though it still doesn't make it match all the injustices that occurred to blacks over time is still very wrong. So you are saying Jews don't have anything that is specifically geared toward them? If I'm not mistaken blacks were persecuted greatly pretty much up until the 70's in the country. I never mentioned any persecution issues you brought that up, I mentioned there were still cultural differences, different issues that affect whites and blacks, different products that need to be used, etc.

Last week there was an Native American Indian festival here in town, what's up with that?
Just messing with y'all. Peace.
See below: Scotts' festival, Kwanzaa, Bridal fair, Folk life, Senior expo, Doll show, Hawaiian pineapple, there's something for everyone and anyone.

They carry Matzo balls at Walmart and kosher
And HB and Secede should make peace over an afghan kebab, Devil is paying.
Oh, and don't take to heart too much KE's fascination with black-ness and sprawl. His "controversial" posts really liven up this forum when it gets stale sometimes. Way to go, KE.

Creating a product geared toward a specific group is not a discrimination, but I don't agree that the Huntsville-Madison-Decatur area forum is an appropriate place for it. Creating one on this website creates an appearance of certain "ethnic-centric" which I do not think it is the objective of this forum.
Like I said, if you (or anyone) wants to do it, just go start your own website.
I am not here to debate the history of blacks in the U.S. I am pointing out that other groups have had more recent history of oppression, but they quickly pick themselves up and get on with today's life rather than continue to whine about yesterday's problems. To debate this issue is not the purpose of this forum and I will not be dragged into this debate.

Where you've been the past 60 years, dude?
You can't even google "jew" without getting some kind of notice from Google excusing the use of the word. So, yeah, jews "cry" a lot about their "unique" issues too.

If we all had information about what everyone is doing, we might find more similarities than differences. I think that if the goal is to reduce discrimination against black or white people from either group, then education and dialogue is a good way to accomplish that.

It's offensive to me to call it a Black Arts festival if you want to see a real black arts festival go to a real city like Atlanta, Chicago, or Detroit, those are much more culturally oriented events with actual art as opposed to what goes on at Huntsville's art festival which is a bunch of ghetto and no name hip hop artists. I'm not sure if it originally was like that or it kind of degraded over the years I've only been here for four years. Visit the African American museums in Birmingham, Atlanta, Memphis and other cities stay away from the Huntsville "freaknik" known as the black arts festival.
