By "communities" do you mean neighborhoods? Cities? You can look at a map and then search the forum for info on the various cities, most of which have been discussed here.

Have you looked at Lake Forest (west/southwest of the Research Park area) next to Redstone Arsenal or The Village of Providence off Hwy 72 a little north of that? Both are very conveniently located and offer a variety of home styles.

The neighborhood known as Sherwood Park is a nice little neighborhood too. My in-laws have lived there for 20something years. A little older neighborhood, probably 1970s, but the homes are well kept and there are lots of mature shady trees. It's not 3 minutes from Research Park, Redstone, Space Center, etc. Located off of Old Madison Pike near Wynn Drive. It's a very family oriented neighborhood and one of the few in this part of Huntsville with a neighborhood pool.

Hi Boiwonder.
If you can provide some requirements / desirements I might be able to help. Do you want an older house in an historic neighborhood? New house? Condo? Commute time? Price range? Big yard? Gated? Mountain? Waterfront? Schools? Culturally diverse (for here)? Racially diverse? |

I don't know anything about Huntsville (never even visited). My job has presented me with the opportunity to relocate & I'm doing my due diligence. The office is within Cummings Research Park. What are the pros/cons of the areas you've listed? Any information is beneficial & greatly appreciated.
A small profile about myself: Single 25-30 age range No children 2 dogs Currently reside in DC with an 1hr commute (sometimes 2 during heavy traffic & inclement weather) & I'm looking to get away from that horrendous commute time. Seeking a low crime diverse area Seeking an area close to shopping & restaurants Boiwonder Last edited by Boiwonder; 04-15-2007 at 02:52 PM. Reason: addtl info |

Athens is about a 15 minute commute from Cummings and is growing rapidly toward Huntsville and Madison. Good neighborhoods with new development everywhere and easy to travel to and from with exit from I-65 to Highway 72 where a lot of resturants and shopping areas are completed or under development. athensplus.com is a web site focusing on that area with links to local information and a photo section of real esate for sale.
