You know, that's a good point. No matter where you live, teenagers (and college students) are going to be bored half the time anyway! Huntsville can't be everything to everybody. It seems to be a great place for families, and engineers, and I like it that way. Not that there isn't room for improvement, but we're not gonna suddenly turn into Vegas.

This very thing is what makes the students apathetic about campus life. It's definitely not academic apathy. Plus, there is no football team or anything else to really get excited about and foster school spirit. For the most part it's a quiet campus.
Now, I will say that UAH has made some real efforts to make the campus into more of a "traditional" campus by adding residence halls (they do have students who want to live on campus) and fraternity/sorority houses. Somehow, though, they are going to have to overcome the fact that going to UAH is not most students "first choice" of school and that many of the students are simply passing through on their way to transferring to Auburn or Alabama. Or the reverse--coming home from Auburn or Alabama
I'm sure many of us have heard it referred to as the "University At Home". It's sad actually, because it's a perfectly decent universtity in some ways.

A&M seems to be more like Auburn or ALabama (when compared to UAH), just on an extremely smaller scale.

I met many A&M students that are not from this area (my grandmother even graduated from A&M as well as cousins) most are from south alabama or the Birmingham area and they go home on weekends and holidays. So the city has to keep them here and they already canceled one of the most important things that involves them in the Black Arts festival.I attend UAH and its dead because most young people who want to have fun go to Auburn or Alabama and even Troy.

You are right! I always look at A&M as Alabama and Alabama State as Auburn. A&M seems to be more dominant than State while Alabama seems to be more dominant than Auburn. A&M is the most dominant college in Huntsville because it offers a variety of sports, it has a band, and it offers a variety of courses. More people have heard of A&M than UAH.
