Sky Tram
Huntsville does not need light rail, I think a sky tram like Portland Oregon would benefit the city more, if you could get some development on the mountains. Maybe Bridge street should have been built on the mountains this would be using Hville natural beauty and scenery, with a sky tram that people could ride.

ok, I get it, we're being funny here...I want to know this: how long has this project been in the works in Portland - from the lightbulb idea -design board-approval-money-implementation- (all) the works.
I just posted on Alabama thread my thoughts on the AL's pace and embrace of new, normal, unconventional, liberal (gasp) ideas.
Huntsville is no Portland because, to quote a classic "Technically, Hsv is AL"
to my point: Work on S.Parkway overpass at Whitesburg I assume started out before June 2004 (that's when I came here and the orange cones were either "frozen" in place or sometimes moved around to accommodate the sluggish work). It's 5 years later, what's the status of that project?
Maybe we can find a secondary use of Decatur's Jubilee hot air balloons when they're not parading -insert two lightbulb icons here- And the scientists better be working hard on beaming people out from A to B. Now, that would take care of some of our problems as mankind (pollution, dwindling energy resources etc)

I think it could work. This is the Rocket City. More development on the Mountains would take people breathe away. Just look how those houses look up there already. It would spread the city out.The sky tram would be the talk of the southeast.

I'm all for scalping the "mountains" and putting more development up there. Just like Western North Carolina Maybe we should consider some high rise condos--like Sugartop.
How about a ski slope parallel to Governor's Drive so folks can ski to Huntsville Hospital?
Do you think the Saturn V could be moved to the top of Monte Sano?

I can't believe this $12M home only has a three car garage.

wait, there's an explanation: that there is one fine million-dollar convertible pool. In drought season/city water restrictions, it converts to a 5-car carport.

But if it is a pool then I'd have the same problem I have now: fitting my f-150 supercab, may wife's sequoia and a workbench into a three car garage. I can barely do it. All the kids' bikes and scooters are in the backyard all the time because I can't fit them in the garage.
I would trade the useless dining room and half a family room for an extra car (to 4) garage.

We saw a comedian at a Huntsville comedy club close to 30 years ago who remarked on Huntsville's "orange barrel festival." Yes, the "festival" is still going on....but it's no worse than Atlanta.

I don't think you quite understand how hot air balloons operate, and their limitations....
