What are your favorite parks to visit in the area and why do you like them?

I am specifically looking for parks with playgrounds for children.

This is like asking where are your favorite surfing breaks in Nebraska.

Huntsville is really lacking in neighborhood and community parks but one that is you might like is on the northwest corner of Airport Road and Memorial Parkway. I could not find a park in Huntsville or Madison that had an outdoor basketball court. Not one, so I go onto Redstone Arsenal.

Also, around Brahan Spring Park somewhere around 1st Street north of Drake, I'm almost positive I've seen some.

Also, I think there is a nice set at Dublin Park in Madison.

I'd also work the City of Huntsville and City of Madison Parks and Rec pages.

If you can get on Redstone Arsenal, I've noticed several nice playgrounds there with all sorts of nice kids equipment.

Well, there's always "dead children's playground" at Maple Hill Cemetery...

Doesn't Monte Sano state park have a children's playground? It's been about 10 years since my kids were interested in playgrounds so I've kind of lost tabs on them...

Yes, Monte Sano has a pretty good one too

Default Kids Space!

Ditto the Kids Space. It has tons of "bored parents" seating, shade trees everywhere, and picnic tables for the bring-a-snack crowd. There are plenty of nooks and crannies to crawl through and climb on. I also like that it's fenced with just one entrance. It's on Airport just north of the parkway.

For some reason Huntsville makes this list. I don't get it.

I'm not getting it, either...

"Between City of Huntsville and Huntsville City Schools, there are 77 public playgrounds included in that inventory. Also included in the application are other play attractions."

Are they counting playsets on school grounds? Public school = public? The wording is suggestive. That shouldn't qualify.

Where are these 77 playgrounds?
