Probably jives pretty well with housing prices. There was an article a few months ago how Huntsville and Decatur where something like the top ten of housing increases (or negative decreases) or something like that.

Nice to be in T-Bills when the market is falling.

This feels so good to me because this is the most Huntsville has gained in a while..................long before I was even born. I just hope that Huntsville can keep it up and increase population gains more and more each and every year! I hope and pray that Huntsville's future is not going to be in jeopardy. I hope that Huntsville will find other industries to have other than defense so that its economy can be versatile and so that it can continue to be in the news, such as this!

I'd rather NOT live in the fastest-growing city...lots of problems go along with that.

Ya'll please don't ruin this trying to be negative and having some opposition to this. Huntsville is one of the fastest growing cities in the nation, but with that, it's changing extremely. So just kind of deal with it because it was obviously that this was going to happen, thanks to BRAC! Be happy that Huntsville is representing Alabama on this list.

So let's say the expansion continues and, with a reasonable assumption, accelerates with BRAC. Where are these people moving to? Madison? South Huntsville? Northeast Huntsville? Big Cove?

What will happen to the centroid area of Huntsville, like the two mile radius around Memorial Parkway and 565? Will it implode?

I "love Huntsville so much" because it is what I always envisioned a part of Alabama to be. I always wanted Alabama to have a city that's in the news all the time. I always wanted Alabama to have one of the nation's fastest growing cities in the nation. You know why: when I was growing up, my family from New York would always talk about how Alabama is so country and how boring Alabama is. That really irked my nerves, and always wanted me to wish for something better and bigger for Alabama. Because I envisioned and prayed so much for the state that I love, my dream has come true and is yet to come true; just wait and see!

That is why I love Huntsville so much because it is actually fulfilling my dream!

To add another point, Huntsville and its metro are actually growing faster than Atlanta's metro. Look at County Line Road and other areas! Huntsville is really growing faster and faster every year! Last year, I think it grew 3,000+; however, that number has almost doubled to about 5,700! Does anybody know much Madison grew from 2007-2008?

I think some of it has to do with companies relocating from higher cost places (coastal) to lower cost places (south) to do business. That, and the consolidations and BRAC type stuff. For example, the footprint Rocketdyne had in the 1950s and 1960s in the San Fernando Valley in LA was pretty cheap. In the past 25 or so years that same land became a huge expensive business park (Warner Center). Rocketdyne shrunk and looked for cheaper places to do work. Some of that work is in Huntsville. I think some of it is at Stennis? Also, we're all reading about Boeing considering moving to the south too. May have something to do with labor or unions or something like that.
