Default What are these bugs?

What are all these small, flying, brown beetle-type bugs? They are swarming everywhere this evening and I can hear them crashing into the windows of the house. Quite a hatch it seems.

I noticed them driving home from a birthday party tonight in the headlights everywhere. Are the the "sleeper cell" version of bugs that secretly pick this night to come out?

We call them may beetles, although I'm not sure that's the correct name. They are rampant this year.

We used to see june bugs (similar, but green and bigger) this time of year, but I haven't seen any yet.

June Bugs on Knotts Island are here for more than a month.

My driveway was a virtual graveyard of those stupid bugs this morning. My wife decided to turn the driveway and porch light off tonight because they are taking over the house.

Yep..those are June/ May bugs, call em what you like.. I can remember seeing our driveway by a street light covered by them when i lived in Kansas..

Every tree frog and Toad in the neighborhood hung out there like hungry College kids at I Hop after bar hopping every night the June bugs were served a' la crisp and dazed by the lamp above..

Here in CA. we've got em' too..just not as much..or so it appears

Now we are just awaiting the Fire Ant invasion..thats gonna be some fun times right there Killer bees are currently knocking on the door..

In San Jose? They haven't even got to LA yet; though one person told me she saw them in San Bernardino County.
