Good luck getting to ATL in 3 hrs from Huntsville. Moderator cut: comment And the GA aquarium is DOWNTOWN ATL. You will not get there in 3 hrs. You must have a personal issue with Chattanooga.
I would recommend Chattanooga's aquarium since it's not a terrible drive. They have a great freshwater aquarium and a salt water aquarium. It's nowhere near as huge as ATL aquarium, but it's enough to tire you out for the day.
The ATL aquarium is newer, and you should also add it to list of things to do. However, I wouldn't just drive to ATL to see the aquarium. Shopping would be the first on the list of things to do. Instead of spending the afternoon at Bridge St, just spend a morning and afternoon shopping in ATL. !!!! Lenox Square FTW!!

I drive through Mentone and Henagar, and it is about 3.25 hours. And the only reason I drive that way is because I have friends who live in Dunwoody. That is on the OUTSKIRTS of Atlanta, and you are misleading people into thinking it is 3 hours to Atlanta. It is not. I wish it was because I would be there shopping every weekend.
Just because you see the Welcome to Georgia sign or Atlanta exit, doesn't mean Yay, I made it to ATL in 3 hrs! haha
I lived in Atlanta and drove back and forth to Huntsville soooo many times, so again, Moderator cut: comment And I know for a fact you don't drive to midtown in no 3 hrs let alone the GA aquarium. LOL!!!!!!! .
P.S. I speed 85-95 mph whenever i can and like p0rn.

I quoted the mileage and said do the math. I thought that was a respectable way to let anyone judge whether or not 3 hours was a reasonable claim, Moderator cut: comment

We lived in Atlanta when we were first married, and I-20 between Anniston, Ala. and Villa Rica, Ga., was still being paved. Once that stretch was opened, it took me 4 hours from our old condo in Forest Park GA to my parents' driveway in Decatur....but if I left at 10 p.m. I could make it about 20 minutes quicker.
Today, I leave Decatur, take I-65 to B'ham and I-20 east to downtown Atlanta: 4 hours. If all the state troopers are home eating supper and watching TV, 3:45. Add another 30 or 45 minutes to Perimeter Center, where we usually stay, depending on traffic etc.
YMMV.

Oh wow, you are sooooo very smart. Got me all figured out. I am the anti-Chattanooga-lying Atlanta spy. Yep. That's me.
As for MY OPINION, it is my opinion that the Georgia Aquarium is better. It has more salt water exhibits which we like. Lots of people don't know there is one in ATL, which is why I mentioned it along with MY OPINION that it was better. Didn't say anything bad about Chattanooga. Just like Atlanta one better. Uh, last time I checked, it was still a free country and isn't that what these forums are for...sharing opinions?

You do realize Dunwoody is NE of the ATL metro? Outskirts...yes. Just the "other side of Atlanta" outskirts.
Maybe you should make sure your arguement makes some sense before posting it.
Stop trying to foil my anti-Chattanooga plot! We are in a recession and ATL needs all the help it can get

Folks.. please remember how long it takes you to get somewhere doesn't mean it is the same for everyone else. Your speed, time of day, route and traffic all figure into travel time. Calling ppl liars because their experience is different is not in the spirit of this forum

NE would be the mexican town, Doraville.
I LIVED 5 min from Perimeter Mall for 1 year, went to church in Dunwoody, shopped every weekend at all the malls, WORKED every weekday in Dunwoody, made friends there, still visit there, blah blah blah.
Also club hopped in midtown and downtown, hung out at downtown hotels, never hung out in the underground (if you visit there you would know why).
When did you go to the GA aquarium last? I will agree with you that the GA aquarium is nicer than the TN one, BUT it doesn't take 3 hrs to get there.
LOL, I guess I am the bad, but I will apologize for it.

We made head over to the aquarium this weekend. Any recommendations for scoring discount tickets? Plan on staying in the Homewood Suites. Also may do the Hands On Museum, Rock City, Raccoon Mountain.
Also, where would we want to eat dinner tomorrow night? Consider we'll be a family with four kids.
