The thing I think I hate about Comcast the most is that they keep moving the HD channels around. Every few weeks, I have to do channel scans and then hunt for where the HD channels are now. I just now had to do another one so I could find the ABC HD channel, which has moved several times in the past few months. Last weekend it was 75-2; now all of a sudden it's 104-2, which was not an active channel a few weeks ago. The conspiracy theorist in me says they do this to try to force you to rent one of their cable boxes for every TV you have.

Have Knology off 72 and wall Highway, and having really bad problems with High Def channels pixelating, and freezing up constantly. We have had techs out on at least 4 different times, and they have completly rewired the whole house, and it was cleared up till the last few days, and again its crapping out. I was at my sisters house in Edgewater a few weeks ago hosesitting, and noticed it pixelating, and freezing up there as well, but maybe not as bad asit does here. Does anyone else have this consistent problem, and if so, has anyone got a suggestion, or cure? We have checked out Mediacom's site, and seen they have service here, and pros and cons to their service. I lived in Chattanooga, and had Comcast High Def, and NEVER had this problem. The only difference was I didnt have the DVR feature on my High Def box. Is this the issue? Does this feature act like a streaming video, and the pixelation is just somehow trying to catch up to whats coming through the line? We also have phone, and internet, and dont seem to have any issues wiith that. I have had DirecTV, and the only time I had pixelation as right before, or during a very heavy rain. The weather doesnt seem to be any issue to our problem. Any help, or contacts would be greatly appreciated. We are calling them back out again, and demanding all new wiring from the main line at the road to the house, or we are switching to someone else. Thanks Douglas

It may be your bandwidth problem. You may need a better than 1.0 meg download speed for Hi Def. I think that's an upgrade to the basic which downloads only700K.

To expand a bit on my explanation. I had a similar situation (I subscribed internet-based programming) and was getting intermittent screen freeze and the word "buffering" will show up. I asked Bob @ Knology about it, he showed up at my house and diagnosed the problem. Bob said that the download speed for basic cable & internet service is not fast enough, I'll have to upgrade to the next tier which is called "the Edge". But since this only happen in the evening (when everyone is using cable), plus I would loss the "discount" I am currently enjoying. We've decided to skip this for now.

Since moving to SE Huntsville I have used Verizon, Bellsouth/AT&T, and now Comcast. I don't do cable, so I can only comment on phone and internet.
Verizon was a wireless card and it was just plain slow, so I ended up returning it. Cell phone coverage was better than my current AT&T though.
Bell South with AT&T DSL was fine on the telephone end of things, but the DSL would go out randomly. Over the year of service it went out no less than 15 times. A few times I got on the phone and worked with a "technician", but all that lead to would be me plugging and unplugging my router, messing with settings, and no resolution. Eventually service would return with no explanation or excuse.
Comcast has proved to be much faster in terms of bandwidth speed tests. I was on a 6mo promo rate for 12mo. Only bummer is that it just got hiked, but still is competitive. It has gone down a couple of times over the year, but overall has been much better on that front. Also, when it went down the tech on the phone knew that it was down and had an estimate on recovery when I called. Kind of gave the warm fuzzy feeling they were actually on the same continent as me. Phone service has been trouble free.
