Default In addition to the farmers markets....

We discovered the coolest thing a few weeks ago while I was looking for more farmers markets. There is a group of small farmers that banded together to form Grow Alabama. They offer fruit/vegetable delivery all over the state. Everything is locally(Alabama) grown with minimal/no pesticides.

We get our delivery at Hampton Cove Chiropractic every Thursday, but they have deliveries all over town.

So far everything has been wonderful and I couldn't be happier with the quality, quantity, and pricing(everything is SO fresh too). They are the nicest people and it is great to know that we are supporting local farmers rather than large corporations. We get a gold share, but they also offer half shares and a smaller box called "southern essentials"(I THINK that is what it is called) that doesn't include fruit. You can customize everything so I just finished canceling the eggplant and okra to add additional apples and potatoes(you can do a permanent substitution and they will pick your extras or you can customize it each Monday). They also have a "grocery store" where you can add on meat, eggs, cheese, etc.

Grow Alabama - Our vegetables and meats are affordable and can be delivered to your home or office

That is GREAT. With only 2 of us, I am going to have to make sure we could eat all that they deliver!

I am sure you will be able to use it all with either the half share(every other week delivery) or the southern essentials. I know that the gold share seems to be just enough for us. Chris doesn't eat too many veggies so for MOST of the things there are just 3 of us

I promise you won't be sorry if you give it a try. We tried it for one month to see what it was like before going to the prepaid year plan, I don't ever want to get my veggies any other way!!

Cool concept. Pricing doesn't work out for me since I don't eat enough veggies yet!

I so want to do this! I have to get my husband on board, and he's not yet, boo. He doesn't think we spend this much on fruits and veggies now, but I think we do. I'm going to have to show him the light...Any pointers on how to convert my hubby would be appreciated! Lol.
