To clarify: The Bargain Bookshelf, on Danville Road, is near the Holaway's Grocery Store (famed for its fresh meats and custom butchering). It is directly behind Sonic Drive-In. It's a little hard to see because the store is situated perpendicular to the rest of the strip shopping center.
Excellent selection of books, been in business for 30-plus years in Decatur. Now, you may or may not find a lot of science fiction. That section tends to fluctuate constantly. But it's worth a look.

Many years ago, we owned a used book store in the Atlanta area. Interesting business. All those National Geographic magazines that you're carefully hoarding in the basement or attic, thinking they'll be worth money someday? News: everybody else is hoarding them, too. Almost every week we'd have somebody offer us a stack. You can't give them away, they're so common.
Now...those comic books you threw away as a youngster, or, as a parent, tossed when cleaning out your kid's room? THERE"S where the money is!!

Another thought...in Decatur, there's a funky downtown store called Excalibur Vintage and Vinyl. They have used records, but also used books, clothing, furniture, knick-knacks...they guy who owns it has a different store in the same building (the old Western Auto building 50 years ago), Coffee and Play. Coffee, sandwiches and at night, bands playing.

It should be pointed out that the Booklegger does not accept hardbacks for trade-in, only paperbacks. That said, I've been going there for 20+ years and love it. They've always had the best science fiction selection in town.

Yep, and while their history and science is hit or miss you can find a lot of unusual stuff there. The problem is the turnoved in those sections is pretty low. If you clear it out you've probably seen all the interesting stock you'll see in that section for a year or two.
