'Multiyear project' looks to bring restaurant, school, microbrewery to site
A dusty icon of Huntsville's cotton-filled past, Lincoln Mill on Meridian Street is yawning back to life.
Construction workers spent Monday mending window frames bigger than garage doors, restoring a stunning view of Monte Sano that had been covered by ugly green shutters.

I really hope this project takes off...but in this economy is seems like financial suicide to dump a lot of money into a large scale renovation project.

The project is already underway. I am good friends with the microbrewery owner.

hey Dee, is the microbrewery legit? Is it associate with Old Towne? Will the product see shelves/taps around town in 2009/2010? Have they gone public, i.e. can you announce the associated individuals? I am excited about the possibilities. OT, have you noticed anything amiss with Old Towne draft products?

Here's another article about the development by the way... http://blog.al.com/breaking/2009/09/...ln_mill_t.html

This is the kind of development I can really get excited about. It reminds me of the kinds of things that are going on in Chattanooga these days.

Yes, absolutely! They have equipment, ABC license, etc. Just need Lincoln Mills to get the building finished.

Nope. Completely separate entity.

My understanding is they are starting with draft only beginning in March 2010 (pending Lincoln Mills opening, of course).

I'm not sure how "public" it is at this point. But there is a Facebook page here: Straight To Ale Brewing | Facebook

Um...I have had a few Olde Towne draft offerings over the past few months and I can only comment on those. The Emancipation IIPA is a pretty solid offering I think, but there may be some consistency issues from keg to keg it seems. I tried the seasonal Oktoberfest last week and thought it was decent. I really like the Pale Ale on draft much better than in bottles. By the way, I finally got a new day job and am no longer tending bar at The Nook so I don't get to try as many things as I once did.

This is really exciting. I wish them the best. Glad to see a micro-brewery in town.
