If it is school information you'd like to get, it's best that you do your own research, versus anybody giving you their own advice- which is always subjective! Here are the links for Madison City, Madison County and Huntsville!

For Madison City: http://www.madisoncity.k12.al.us/Zoning/Zoning.htm

For Madison County, you can go to: http://www.madison.k12.al.us/

For Huntsville City schools, click on: http://www.hsv.k12.al.us/parents.php

If you want to e-mail for more information on Huntsville schools, you can send an e-mail to: schoolinfo@huntsvillecityschools.net

Good luck!

Actually, the deleted (positive) information I had posted originally came from huntsvillecityschools.net, but because a Realtor had it on his web page... (oops).

I'm finding a great deal of conflicting information, but it may be that Huntsville itself is ahead of the curve whereas all of Alabama, judged together, generally shows lower scores.

More digging to do.

That's exactly right. Generally, public schools in north Alabama are leaps and bounds ahead of the state as a whole. Many folks in the state below Birmingham send children to private schools for a decent education. We have private schools in north Alabama, but they tend to be church-related. You can get an excellent education here.

I can tell you the public schools teach the FCAT and if the school does badly they punish the school by withholding money. That being the case while they may do better on FCAT they really should because they only learn that test.
My grandson's go to public school in marshall county and they love school. The classes are smaller than in FL.

Awww...I've been gone for a while and to come back to that! G'arsh, I'm blushing.

P.S. I still think about that farmhouse.

A short while ago a historic mansion in downtown Madison came on the market (ca. late 1800s, early 1900s). The inside pics looked like a haunted house prop, plus, given the age (and aches) of the house you might also get lead, arsenic and azbestos too. The ventilation said "gravity" - probably thru cracks in the flooring (as someone was reminded of their childhood house ventilation "system"). Close to the railroad tracks, and zoned for the award-winning Madison City schools. 19 front st. 280810. I'm sure it's a very charming house to history enthusiasts, but I'm not one of them, and certainly can't have any appreciation for the "fine" historic houses. Interested?
