My wife and I are looking into buying a new Home at Shadow Brook (their "Village Series" which is more affordable) The Agent on duty claimed that Woodland Homes doesn't skimp on quality and is one of the best builders around. This would be our first house.

Looking for feedback on Woodland Homes and Shadow Brook.

Yes I read throught those before posting. I have not been able to find anything on Shadow Brook on the message boards also wanted to revisit the topic as some of those are older postings (ie the financial problems postings)

Check the BBB to see what rating the builder has now.

They appear to be superior to other homes. Case in point the slab. A slab is a slab, right? Not so 4" meets code but they use 6". Is this worth it in resale?, Unlikely but if you stay you will appreciate the difference. Just my opinion. No links to postings provided, no affiliation to the builder, but I do like to share relevant opinions when I have something to offer.

Invesigate, research for yourself. What about roof venting? Now that is as unsexy as you can get but better venting will 'buy you' a longer lasting roof.

That reaffirms what they were telling me. 6" slab, HVAC vents placed "Strategically", buffers between development and other land, ect...

Where else can i go to research developers? I have tried some goole searches (hence I'm on this forum), and BBB. Will talk with a few local realators and get their opinions.

Our personal opinion - we didn't like that we were told several things which turned out to be not true and last we saw, haven't happened. Know people who like the homes but for us it was alot of money for not many of the detail upgrades we like unless we paid ALOT of EXTRA money. Also, don't care how thick it is, don't like and don't want slab. You pay alot of extra to get crawspace. Where is Shadowbrook?

We have a Woodland Home and are very happy with it. (Ours is on a crawlspace.) Only recommendation is to make sure you get as many punch items fixed before closing. If not, hold back some money at closing it the item is major. Stay on top of them on warranty work - although I hear the process has improved. No regrets with the structure. I would read the other threads on HOA/declarant issues - especially between Woodland and Walden Preserve.
