My wife and I did that when we first got married. It wasn't too bad. It is better than living in a new subdivision, which we are doing now. With the apartments, there is a quicker finality to the construction than with the subdivision.

Okay, traffic questions.

Of the two I have narrowed down to, the first route is from Slaughter to University dr to research park blvd to Bridge st Town center. Map also looks like cutting through enterprise way would work, would it make a difference?

Alternate route would be slaughter to Old Madison pike. Which is is best and what kind of commute am I looking at.

Second location takes County Line rd to Mill rd to madison pike to Bridge St TC.
The alternate map route is CL rd to 565 to research park blvd to Bridge st.
Which is best from here and waht is the commute looking like?

Thank you!

Re: first location. Where is it and where are you trying to get to?
Cutting thru CRP at Farrow (off slaughter) might cut it distance-wise. Especially if you come from north of Farrow (Potters Mill, Yancy, Creekwood). But time-wise have in mind the school-related traffic (Columbia High and New Century-2 schools in the same location, at Farrow and Entreprise). Then it's a short drive on Eagle to BSTC.
Is it The Vintage?-then continue on Old Madison Pike to BSTC. Although I can see where It might take 20 mins to BSTC (making a left out of the complex, Madison Academy school traffic, the Indian Creek bridge, and the CRP traffic at rush hours. Farrow alternate might work a little bit better.

First location is where the old monrovia golf course was at, its a new complex 1/4 completed. So its almost right at the intersection of the two roads. Id have to make a left on slaughter to get to university then another left. Trying to get to BSTC.

I 2nd the Farrow Rd shortcut. I use it every day. Just as a nit, the road the apartment complex is on is Jeff. It turns into Slaughter south of 72. It will save you confusion down the road!

I believe you are talking about the location of the WaterCress development. There will be a Kroger at that site facing 72 as well as the apartments and some townhomes. I'd avoid that location because 72 is a nightmare traffic-wise in the evenings and the mornings. Your other location would likely be better, but you are still going to have traffic issues with Old Madison Pike and Slaughter.

I live off countyline road. It will be faster if you take the alternate route, e.g., 565 to 255 to Bridge Street.

Alternatively you can "try" Mill road to Hughes, turn south to Madison Blvd and go straight into Bridge Street. But this is not necessary faster.

Avoid Madison Pike during rush-hour. It may be shorter distance wise, but will definitely take longer.

I'd second taking County Line Rd to I-565 to Research Park and then into Bridge Street rather than trying to cut across Madison. You will find that Madison Pike is backed up with traffic just about every morning and afternoon during rush-hour.

Look BK-

I can use the "compared to NOVA traffic, even the worst traffic spots in Hsv are a breeze" line, that other nova people before you, used , just to be mean spirited. But once you get here, after a while you kind of become to expect (want) not to have the nova traffic headaches. The area is growing and the road infrastructure lags well behind the expansion and sprawl.

It's up to you, really, what you choose (the shortest time-wise or distance-wise), or even if you compare to nova. But what always gets me, it's the frustration of driving 6 miles in 30 min (whichever route you'd choose), when I have other things to do with my time (kids to drop off).

But all the posters after your "2 locations" post have given you valuable advice and alternatives. Before you rent, you need to try them all at different times of day, and always know your alternate route (plan B), if a roadblock occurs in your daily commute. At this time, for the Jeff location, it looks like the Farrow route might be feasible, once you go past Jeff, the US72 intersection, and the portion of narrow and slow Slaughter where you need to add the school buses (stops) into the mix. But leaving earlier or later for the office might work for you, although if I come to think about it, there is so much traffic going in and out of/around CRP/RSA gate9, that the slow traffic could last for 2-3 hrs between 7 and 9A, and the same for evenings. Schools start at 7.30

Same for the County Line location - getting out on 565 might work better (it's bit longer) than Mill (2 schools right off), and narrow roads/under construction.

I dislike 565 being closed/slowed due to accidents, I could imagine myself cussing off stuck on Indian Creek bridge (OMP), 1 mile from office. >> the cussing would be undirected, just a release valve for the irony.
