Like anywhere else in the southeast or midwest the threat of a Tornado occurs when cold air meets warm air, usually in the months of April/May and October /November. I've lived in Huntsville for 19 years, I don't know of anyone personally who's house has been blown away.
Huntsville: *Country's best value for salaries & cost of living (#1 in the USA): Salary.com *Top 10 city in the USA for overall standard of living: Expansion MGt Mag *Top 15 city in the USA for Business : Forbes *Top 20 Midmarket, 7.2% 5 Year Job Growth: Inc Magazine * 1 in 10 people have a PHD, *Most affluent Metro in the state * Fastest growing metro in the State, etc. etc. etc. blah blah the list goes on. It's a freaking great place, its the best city in the State and its definetely one of the best in the whole region in my opinion. See how much your money can buy here, it'll blow your mind. Peace! more national recognitions is below: http://www.huntsvillealabamausa.com/news/nat_recog.html (Copy and paste in your address bar) |

I've lived in the area all my life and the only Tornados that have had impact on Huntsville were April 3 1974 and November 1989. Although we have many tornado warnings during the peak seasons. This is due to the advanced dopplar radar systems that surround the Tennessee Vally. They are not allways an actual tornado during these times but the warnings are given just for the sake of being prepared. There are farmore tornados in the mid west than anywhere in the nation, so I'd rank our area much lower on the problibilty of a tornado happening often.
