My daughter just graduated, and like most of her class has little hope of landing a teaching job any time soon.

Does anyone have any experience with substitute teaching in the Huntsville area?

Madison City just had a job fair last Thursday. The city will be hiring for sure.

Madison County has posted some jobs.

The jobs are there, they just might be few and far between. However, with the growth this area is experiencing, there should not be a downturn for much longer. And if there is, then there would be a serious problem with those running the school districts and the state.

I have a friend who subs in Madison, and she is usually at one school just about every day! She usually subs at her daughter's school.
The key is getting herself out into the schools, getting to know the teachers, so that they call her for sub positions. She can go through the "auto" system through the school board, but often times these teachers will set up subbing outside of that with subs they know and have worked with. But, as she builds up a relationship with these teachers, they will call on her more and more.
My mom just retired last year (38 years of teaching...wow!) and this school year, she has had two weeks off from subbing. They know her, and they all call her to get her to sub! She was a great teacher
Also try Madison County as well, and even Limestone County.
