That blond girl in the morning seems disappointed that no real circulation develops with some small storms.

I think Jim Camtori is hanging on a pole somewhere practicing and getting in shape so he can hang on in the high winds to show us how powerful hurricanes are - Maybe its my imagination lol and that will be left undisputed. But they hype the hurricane central thing a bit much - I wonder if advertising revenue goes up when a tropical depression starts off the coast of Africa?

I'm tired from staining a fence so who knows....
Yes they do. Hurricanes = ratings!!!

Back in the 80's and early 90's when John Hope was there, and before the internet, they were the place to go for people to get great weather info. I remember tracking hurricane Gilbert and looking forward to :50 after the hour. Now with the Internet and all the great weather sites, the weather channel is the LAST place I go for tropical updates. I can get the data right from the Govt weather servers and can talk to 1000's of other people, some who live right in the hurricane zones of the Atlantic and Caribbean, to get first hand accounts of what is going on.

I swear they look for the deepest puddle to stand in...

Watch the wet fools as they "brave" the winds...uhm, dude, get inside, ok? We live here, we know what it looks like outside right now.

My friends stayed down in Old Key West for Irene while we were held up here in Jupiter...had to make some new wedding plans that weekend...
anyway - if you watched the broadcasts, which we ALL did, you would think that the town was still completely under water, completely impassable.
After the storm relented, my friends, one in a wheelchair, strolled around the old town trying to locate some of what we were relaying as conditions as seen on TV.

Guess what?

They found a few puddles and lots of downed signs but none of these submerged streets, so I can only assume the game is to find the worst image at the worst time and hype it. Over and over and over and over...

and that day they drove back up to attend our wedding (here instead of there, because everyone was afraid to drive down).

Now here in the northern edge of Palm Beach County/Martin/St. Lucie, we got NAILED a few years ago...and although you could see the Anchors salivating, I guess because nobody knows where the heck this IS it wasn't such big news.

Yeah, every now and then, they have had a van down at our beach just waiting for the hurricane to show up. They keep pointing at the surf rising, (the tide was coming in) the waves rolling in (just like they do all day long every day) and mentioned how the nearby residents were getting ready for the big blow.(While the little kids run behind him playing on the beach)

But let's face it.......it's news! what would they talk about if there wasn't one out there somewhere. But I agree, it can get tiresome.

Default I agree, too funny

I notice the same thing, the weather people get all excited knowing a hurricane is coming. I am a bit of a weather buff too so I know the feeling.

I could spend hours bashing the Weather Channel. They seem to be a training station for amateur forecasters, or the place where people go when they weren't able to land the job on channel 197 in Des Moines.

But it's not the fault of the on-air people. I feel sorry for them. They're constantly being humiliated by the management of the station, an inept bunch of suits that places their priorities on:
1. Sensationalism
2. Advertising
3. More sensationalism
4. Glitz and showmanship (which is badly executed)
5. Maybe the weather forecast, if they have time after the:
6. More sensationalism.

Most local weather broadcasts are vastly better than anything you can see on TWC. The only difference is that TWC is all weather, all the time, so if you're a weather addict (as I am) then you tune into the thing hoping to see some information about the weather. But you're more likely to be treated to horrible graphics, hysteria, "storm stories" and other garbage that gives you very little information about weather stats, climate, and forecasts.
