My Dad still lives there and refuses to evacuate and I'm so worried. We've definitely been through our share of hurricances but this one looks bad. It floods in that region just with a heavy rain.
And water will be this gals biggest weapon. Lots of water in a short period of time. And its moving slowly which will make matters worse.
The East Coast is already drenched. Hopefully it won't come ashore when tides are high.
yes she started eating breakfast appetizers in the caribbean, quadeloupe, st kits and nevis for finger food,, then she started filling up for brunch on st croix, puerto rico!!! and the bahamas for lunch,, now she's getting ready for the maine coast with all the trimmings north carolina, new, jersy, and new york..and she should even have some room for a dessert
I love it! Conch Fritters in the Caribbean, then North Carolina BBQ, stopped over in MD for some blue crabs with Old Bay, sushi in NYC , and of course, lobsters in Maine! I'm jealous of this Irene chick!
Keep your eye on the NYC area as the hurricane reaches that area. They've had a lot of rain already in recent weeks. There's lots and lots of concrete. The experts say the subways may get flooded.
They probably will get flooded. Tomorrow afternoon all mass transit is shutting down and the trains are going to be moved to safer ground.

I think she's coming here to New Jersey for some bagels, taylor ham, and pizza.
I don't think Irene will be a hurricane when it reaches New York City. It seems to have weakened a lot. What does anyone else think?
Honestly, I'll be surprised if it can retain it's category 1 strength by the time it skirts the Jersey shore. It just seems that there'll be too much interaction with land and continental air is getting wrapped up in the storm.

Yeah, we'll definitely add this to the menu! How could I forget NJ pizza & bagels! I'm not familiar with Taylor Ham? I'm thinking Smithfield Ham. That can be the VA stop... Ham biscuits, anyone?
