Agree but then you have those who die and get injured so most of what you see is for them. Be grateful your smart enough to understand the consequences or impacts.
Also it may seem like hype because we have so many sources now. My Twitter feed is lit up from hundreds of sources but to some people they might only see 1 or 2 things. Lol
And always know what areas are prone to what. this is mostly for coastal communities. l Hope nothing too bad for you. Stay safe. Keep us posted.
Thanks, I think we should see winds in the 40-50 mph range and some rain. The weather man just said the track shifted west so that is a little concerning. We're pretty close to the ocean, and the VB public works guy said he's not worried about the ocean beaches as much as the bay beaches due to the wind direction. We did put up all of the lawn stuff but decided against covering the pool.
ETA this is very early for a land falling hurricane in this area.
This is the latest update. Nags head will be cut off and because the evacuations are not all mandatory I think some folks will be stranded. The good thing is it should all be over in the morning.
Season began June 1st. Probably late with this being the first one.
-------------------------
Jeff Masters says it's early for a hurricane:
The first hurricane of the season typically occurs on August 10, so Arthur is quite a bit ahead of schedule. Arthur was able to form so early because it was over the very warm waters of the Gulf Stream Current, and these waters happened to be over 1°F warmer than usual for this time of year. Formation of a June or July hurricane like Arthur off the U.S. coast is typically not a harbinger of an active hurricane season, since these storms do not form from African tropical waves. Arthur spun up from a cluster of thunderstorms and their associated low pressure system that moved off the Southeast U.S. coast, and hurricanes that get their start this way are typically too far north and too close to land to be able to intensify into major hurricanes.
Arthur likely to make landfall on Cape Lookout in next 1-2 hours. We'll get official word in coming days
