7:25pm map

Tornado warning on the Keys there.

I think recon found a lower pressure but not higher winds. That's not common I would think.

I think the possibility of Irma not turning sharply north should be given more consideration. But that doesn't seem to be a very popular suggestion. But I don't think a hurricane pays any attention to popularity or forecasts. What would happen if it keeps moving west at about 280-290 degrees? Havana would suffer a greater hit, but might be 35 or 40 miles outside the eye. From there, it might head anywhere, to Mexico or some spot in the Western Gulf States. How much power it might gain from the open water, is the question. Ideally, it would just stagnate and dissipate, but that's not likely. We will certainly see about this, in just a few hours. 7:37 pm, EDT, right now, just at sunset.

It's a lose-lose with a storm this strong.
You sound like a 100 year old crying because he wasted all that money on life insurance.

Are those numbers the opposite of what they need to be for Irma to,turn
Aren't they supposed to be low(ER) than hers?

IS it possible she goes west far enough to,just give up the east coast route and strikes out over the Gulf?
Levi, says she won't leave Cuba till late tonight--how late?

How long before Levi does an update--if just a blog post vs video...he did video this AM...

Trying to get my daughter to move to,friends now vs in AM simply to be done before they lose power and have more-higher winds and rain...
That is going to happen whether it goes up,coast or,out to Gulf...

Some coastal areas of SC, and most of coastal GA will still have some minor surge issues (mainly during high tides), just due to continued onshore winds through at least Monday. Winds of tropical storm force most likely, several inches of rain, and some scattered tornadoes will be possible as well mainly Sunday into Monday as rain bands move close by.

Irma pressure will always be lowest and winds move towards her, and she also moves towards path of least resistance.

The big change here is the rain near Georgia. Warm air moving North hits colder air moving south. Right off coast of Georgia.

This generates the rain and lowers pressure.

Yes South America is low, however, there is no big rain being made other than Jose.

I think the only question here is where Irma will make landfall on West side of Florida. As for going far into the Gulf, the issue is that Georgia rain is making a path of least resistance.
