here is a report I worked on that rated and studies the success and failure of different window applications in Florida during 2004-and 2005 seasons. it was picked up by the state as a good resource and compreshensive look at window film, lamenated glass, shutters etc. click on the pdf to the left to download the full report.

For the REAL facts - Read the truth - review the codes. Its fraud to suggest window film is hurricane potection.

I wouldn't have bet on window film doing anything more to protect you from a 110 MPH javelin aimed at a window than taping up windows would.

Imagine the wonderment when I asked my brother what he thought taping up windows would accomplish during Ike...

Personally from what I observed you need something that wil stop wind driven debris because once a window goes it pressurise the house. Film would not stop what I saw that brke window and then the real damage.
