That pretty picturesque color of water you are looking for can happen just about anyplace. I have seen it on a small lake in the Yukon even. I have seen it off Miami Beach, Palm Beach, Ft. Lauderdale and the Keys. It happens when certain things are in the water and the sun light reflecting or something like this. This link should explain it. Ocean Color - Science Mission Directorate

I've been to florida (stayed there for a month with a friend) in West palm beach. We visited palm beach, and fort lauderdale - but that was pretty much it. They had beautiful beaches, but the water wasn't that vacation perfect turqiouse caribbean blue that you see in the commercials, ya know what I mean? What are some of the best spots to see that? Key west? I didn't happen to make it down there. If anyone could link me to threads with photos, I'd appreciate it.

Also, if anyone can suggest a nicer place to live than the west palm beach/fort lauderdale locations - I'm all ears.
