(CNN) -- Hurricane experts are throwing cold water on an idea backed by billionaire Microsoft founder Bill Gates aimed at controlling the weather.

Gates and a dozen other scientists have raised eyebrows by submitting patent applications for a technology to reduce the danger of approaching hurricanes by cooling ocean temperatures.

Has Mr. Gates not used his spare time to invest in learning about physics and heat transfer?

Besides, leave well enough alone.

If all the creatures that live in the frigid dark abyss of the ocean floor do not adapt to warmer water in their habitat and critters that depend on warmer water near teh surface now deal with cooler water...you get the idea.

Why aren't global warming types all over this idea yet??? Or is not knowing how nature works getting in the way here?

Oh, okay.
