They don't quite have anything to replace my 2003 Infiniti G35 or 2007 BMW 530i. The Hyundai Genesis sedan is quite nice but too soft in terms of suspension and driving dynamics while the Genesis coupe is plenty sporty but a tad cheap on the inside. Both great cars, just not quite enough to push me to sell either of mine. I generally prefer RWD sports sedans / sports cars and you can see where my needs aren't met. The G35 will be the first to go and the list of possible replacements is pretty diverse so who knows, maybe we'll see a Hyundai in the driveway at some point. I'm looking at the 2011+ Mustang GT, 2005+ C6 Corvette, Hyundai Genesis sedan (if I can live with the softness), BMW 335, Audi A5 (not too sporty either, but simply beautiful) and a few other cars as possible replacements).
I hear you on the Hyundai. A friend of mine has a Genesis Coupe and she loves it. I don't think it's a bad car, especially considering it's Hyundai's first (or one of their first) dives into making a RWD pony car. But in my consumer opinion, both Kia and Hyundai have a LONG way to go before I would consider them competitors for my money.
It's good that they are improving their product, but if I were considering a 4 door sedan with RWD, I would take a BMW over the Genesis anytime.
As it stands now, I will not be on the market to buy a new car for a long time anyways. I drive a 2005 Mustang (V6) as a daily driver and my wife and I have a 2010 Sequoia as our family vehicle. I've had the Mustang since it was new, and have about 72,500 miles on it. It's been a fantastic car, and I plan on keeping it and driving it for another 6 years at a minimum. I'll drive it longer than that if I can. And we plan on driving the Toyota for at least 12 years minimum, but I'd like to keep it for closer to 15.
Dude, I don't think anyone is confusing Kia with a luxury brand or is pretending to buy an Audi when they stroll onto the Kia lot.
Kia and Hyundai is the new smug Sonata looks like a fake Mercedes CLS. Genesis looks like a fake G37. Genesis sedan looks like a fake Lexus/Infiniti/BMW/benz thingie. Equus looks like a fake Lexus LS.
Hyundai-Kia were awarded #1 quality in Germany by their most extensive auto research survey.
They are also the only automaker with an in-house steel plant and are the only brands consistently 5-starring all the crash tests and climbing reliability charts in all nations. More technology included standard than the audis or bmws like some other poster mentioned, and sometimes things the old tier luxury can't afford to put in their cars like the lexicon sound system.
There's nothing the german brands can do to prevent this company from passing them and never looking back.
Better maybe, but at least 10 years behind Toyota and Honda.
Best testimonial yet. Who needs all the crap that is being added to cars nowadays. Would you rather have a brend new zero-miles 2001 Camry/Accord, or 2011?
Better maybe, but at least 10 years behind Toyota and Honda.
exactly.. In 10+ years they may have excellent cars.. But they are not there yet.. And they are every bit as expensive as Honda and Toyota too. Who ever would buy a Kia over a Honda or a Nissan or a Toyota really made a mistake
