Really? A warranty stipulates what is power train, what is covered and what is not covered. It also contains provisions about what will void the warranty. While it is a legal document it doesn't contain vast amounts of legalese.

I couldn't find a 60,000 mile service that cost near $1000 in my area. I used the following site to see what the average cost would be. It varies depending on model. For example a 2006 Kia Rio cost about $293 to $424 to have a 60,000 mile service performed. With the average person driving 15,000 miles a year I didn't see that as a bad deal to have done once every 4 years.
Before I left Miami to move up to Maine in my 2004 Kia Rio, I got my 60,000 mile service done, (a little early). I also got an oil change, a new battery, my rear license plate lights replaced, new windshield wipers, a new serpentine belt, (it didn't need it right then but it was getting worn and I opted to do it since I was traveling 1700 miles and who needs issues in the middle of a move), and the entire cost was just about $600, give or take a few dollars.
Miami is expensive. It's very expensive so trying to tell me that the service is going to cost $1000 is b.s. Either the OP doesn't have a clue, is making that number up thinking some of us don't know or they are getting totally ripped off by a dishonest business.

I guess that's why a lot of people don't understand when I talk of prices. Ain't no way in the heck the dealership is going to charge $500 for a 60,000 service in Nj. Plus she is talking about 2004,that's like 7 years ago.

Cherry Hill is more expensive than Miami, overall, so I would agree that the OP's price quote would be valid, to the high end of what would be expected for a Kia, nonetheless, but still not surprising for the area. Any time there's a timing belt change, the price always tends to be in the four digit category.
