Not sure where its at exactly, but do you have the broken starter lever problem? It's a plastic lever that breaks and its a $2 part.
not sure if its the lever, but i have seen that lever when researching a new starter
i turn the key and nothing,,,,,then turn and it starts, its not the battery
it may be the lever,,,but im not familiar with levers, i do have the starter(bought offline)
just frustrating, i look over the whole engine and cannot find the starter- i followed the positive wires from the battery -no luck
starter is bolted up to the bellhousing on the right side lower side of the engine, where the bellhousing attaches to the motor, you will need to access the starter from underneath the car, there are 2 wires on the starter that will need to be removed, then 2 bolts holds the starter in, remove these and the starter will drop out,
If that wishbone plastic lever breaks, it'll cause the starter to spin but not engage, you'll just hear a slight whining of the electric motor. Once it breaks, it's broke though, so I don't think the car can be started.
thanks again, the car will start, but not consistently
i did reasearch google, hyundai car forums, for starter location, and while i appreciate all answers, the most consistent is below the intake manifold at the front of the motor-kinda where i thought, but was hoping it wasnt,,, (not much room to work with, but i'll give it a try today,, will disconnect the negative wire on battery, put the car on ramps and give it a try
i use to work on my cars alot back in the day, now i feel like a blind guy watching porn,,,when looking at an engine. (not sure what im looking at)

You'll need a ratchet, with an extension, and a 14mm socket, for your "porn experiment."
Good luck! I think you might it to be easier than you're concerned about.
