Using software already included on Windows (and probably Apple) computers, you can convert an entire CD to .wav, .mp3, .flac, .wma., or whatever, in 2 minutes or less.
Smartphone.......................?

iPod.................................?

Okay, just to show that not all of us are on the same page.

Not sure I can put it any clearer. People are all gung ho about switching their music to some 32GB device because it is easier for them to use, yet when I talk about switching VHS to DVD (and then backed up on a hard drive), it seems that people are wide eyed with "Why?".

I just suppose audio is acceptable but video is not.

Again.......if you've got 5 or 6 CD's, that's just fine. When you have an entire library.......you've GOT to be kidding!
You know, if you legally own an album, then technically the DMCA can't give you too much flak about downloading an MP3 or FLAC version via torrent...you legally own it, you're entitled to make a backup copy for your own use, you're simply using a different method to obtain the copy.

In no way do I endorse downloading music that someone has not paid for and wishes to illegally obtain, of course.

No, it's more like because going from VHS to DVD is like going from vinyl to cassette, we're already way past that (BluRay and UltraViolet).

Hmmmmm, if one is going from VHS to beyond, I don't the quality will be that of BluRay but rather something of DVD unless one has got some really great enhancing equipment.

If you're still using VHS, then I think there are other issues to be considered.

In my case, there are waaaaaaaayyyy more issues to be considered!!!

You know, I don't use a CD anymore either, and when did I stop using them? the advent of satellite radio around 2002 came, and i was an early adopter. Haven't really listened to discs since then at all. When i've gone a year or two without satellite, I've streamed or listened to a smart phone. Could care less if a disc player is in my car, but since I buy used older cars, I'll probably have a disc player in what I drive every day for another 10 years!!

FYI, my car, an 05 325ci, still has a single disc player and an ipod hookup. My wife's car, an 05 Avalon, still has a 6 disc in dash changer and a tape deck!!!

Why is it that people are attacked for utilizing old formats for entertainment? I got rid of my VHS tapes long ago, but I didn't have many. If someone had an entire library, why wouldn't they want to continue to use it until they no longer can? Not everyone wants to chase after the latest technology with their hard earned dollars, just so they can make fun of the person with the old technology.

Only YOU can decide if it's worth it. If you enjoy the CD format go for it.

I'll take my CD's right now. I have a MP3 player that I use for hiking & camping the controls are too small to be using while driving. CD's are much easier to use while driving. As far as Pandora & those things go it's easy to lose signal at times.
