We have a Kia Sedona minivan. When we moved from Florida to Indiana after a couple of weeks the check emissions light came on. If we put a super cleansing STP in it, sometimes it would go off. When I moved back down to FL, it went off. Since the temperature dropped below 40 at night, now the light has come on again. Does it makes sense this only happens when it is cold?
Possibly. What specific problem code do you have? Autozone will read it for free. Write down the code number as well as whatever they say the issue is.
It's much easier to work on newer cars if you recruit the computer to help you diagnose.
You need to get the code read, any replies would be speculation. I'll second getting Autozone to read the code, but DO NOT take their advise on what to buy to fix it, get confimation first.

I 100% agree with this post. A lot of people (including many that work at Autozone) do not realize if a code kicks for a sensor it does not always mean that sensor is bad. I do a lot of side mechanic work out of my house and recently had a neighbor with a Hyundai Santa Fe come to me with the check engine light on. The scanner kicked a code for one of the two oxygen sensors. I started checking and found the air filter was severely clogged. One new air filter and the problem was solved. Many times a code comes up for a sensor, it is something else that is making that sensor read a fault in the system.
I have a 2009 KIA Sedona minivan, while driving it home today the check engine light and the ESC light came on and I lost alot of power. After sitting in a parking lot for a few minutes I was able to drive the van home. What does this mean? Do I have a major problem?
