It's official. I was driving up 17th yesterday, passing the former Schlotzsky's Deli and saw the sign right out front.

Some things that you remember may not be on the menu. Some of those things you can ask for. I always like asking for a big burger and that is long gone from the menu as far as I know. Just ask for it and you will get it.

I love the $6 burgers as well. I love a thick patty.

I used to order Santa Fe chicken...it is delicious and I miss those sandwiches. And I liked their fried zuchinni too.

Well, not to be too full of ourselves here, but some of us predicted this well over a year ago.

The food is a cut above the usual big chains, but remember, it is still a big chain. They also are owned the same company that run Hardees. Not bad, but not spectacular either.

I would fully expect Carl's to expand all over Idaho, in addition to IF and Burley.

Some nostalgia...I remember sojourns into CA in the 80's where Carl's was still mostly a CA chain. I liked them a lot then, but now I don't remember if it was because they were a CA chain, (as in you can't get this anywhere else), or that their food was just better. Probably a combination of both. I really liked their SW Chicken san, (or perhaps as the last poster, mentioned it was actually called the "Santa Fe" and I think it is still on their menu). Anyway, good news, (finally confirmed), as a new entrant into E. Idaho.

I would predict that Carl's Jr. will do well at their 17th & Teton Mall location. However, remember Chick 'fil A will open around the same time. Both stores will be popular, mainly due to their newness into the market. Hopefully, this will increase the competition among other fast food outlets in the
area. Competition is a good thing...a win-win for everyone.

A little feedback from when I mention both establishments getting ready to open, most folks are excited, but there's a little bit more of a gleam in their eyes when it comes to CFA

Yes. Agreed Chick fil A is more exciting. And they will open before Carls. However, Carl's probably will offer more traffic longterm, only due to lower prices and a bigger menu variety. But Chick will probably do well here, with quality menu items. What I find most interesting, is that other fast food chains will need to step it up to compete. What is fascinating about this market is that more competition makes everyone better. True competition is the real force that drives quality. Love that.
