There's a kind of unusual looking building on the west side of Channing Way. It's at an EIRMC parking lot.
This structure was built in 4 days as a temporary building for current Radiation Oncology therapy.

The EIRMC Cancer Center is upgrading to a new state of the art design treatment design approved by the FDA in 2013. When I read about this months ago, I had to read more at Dartmouth's Radiation Oncology Dept. Few have been installed in the U.S.

This couch-like treatment machine, when installed at EIRMC will be the first in Idaho. The new design treats certain cancer locations better.

I would look for more news from EIRMC about Cancer Care and another specialty service line in upcoming months

Default P.R. Article

Too funny the Post Register ran an article about this bldg. less than two days of my post.

What I hadn't realized is the temporary structure is a rental modular unit. It costs EIRMC $500, 000 to rent each month. Estimated time until the larger and newer linear accelerator unit is installed and good to go is May. That's five months of the module. But patients need care. If you've ever provided care for a cancer patient receiving radiation therapy, you know how sick, tired and kind of goofy they can be.

Radiation oncology saves lives. I think we'll have two treatment locations before 2015, as there is a limited amount of patients one machine can treat, given the length of treatments.
