There's a Walgreen's store on 1st St. in Idaho Falls that has an ornamental rock near the entrance to the parking lot that gets hit so much (2-3 times a week? Nobody knows for sure) that it now has a name- Dwayne. The Rock.

Dwayne has high centered way many cars and trucks. He has his own Facebook page:
https://www.facebook.com/groups/1017380274957547/

Despite getting knocked around quite a bit, Dwayne is holding up quite well. Being solid granite helps. He's a big joke here, except for the folks who hit him, and he has fans, especially the crew at Majestic Auto Body.

But yesterday, Dwayne got moved. he's now behind his buddy Tree. I don't think that will change things much, though. I think Dwayne deserves a webcam of his own, even though he's probably not as fun to watch as the Ospreys.

That's life in Idaho for ya. I know Dwayne has a cousin in Pocatello, but I was wondering if he had other cousins we don't know yet. Is there a rock that is continually being hit in your neighborhood? Post a pic if you can, for Dwayne. He's sensitive, for a rock, so I'm sure it will surprise him, but you know how rocks are… they don't show their emotions much. Like not at all.

If you check the Facebook link, be sure to watch Dwayne on the Tonight show UTube vid. Jay Leno caught an early article about Dwayne and it's really funny.

Read about the rock (refuse to call a rock by a name). And to think the people who accidentally drove over the big rock are on the road.

I use that Walgreen's all the time. The Entrance on 1st St. is unobtrusive and narrow, and there's a very short hard right turn into the parking lot itself right where the rock is.
It's a 2-way entrance, and there isn't a lot of room between the building and the rock where the right turn must happen, either. If a vehicle is leaving while one is entering, it's very easy to crowd too close to the rock while avoiding the other car. I can easily see how a big pickup or an SUV with a wider turning radius could hang up on the rock.

I've never had any trouble negotiating that tight turn, and I'm sure most compact cars have no trouble either. But even a compact pickup, or anything with a wider turning radius, could still get high centered or all banged up pretty easily.

I went over to buy some allergy pills yesterday, and I closely observed the entire entrance when I used it.and Dwayne now has a line of reflectors in front of it, but the rock still looks like it can hook a vehicle to me. The only fix to the problem is to completely remove the curbing and the rocks and allow a wider angle of approach. That would mean losing 1 or 2 parking spaces, but I've never seen anyone ever park in those spaces.

As soon as someone cuts it a little close, those reflectors will be ripped out. They are mounted on little steel rods, and will slap some pretty deep scratches in a paint job when they're hit, so the saga is still far from over, I'm sure.

You're not the only one CFF.

And yes, typically if it's on FB, it's available somewhere else as well. Just be careful you don't get the wrong Dwayne "The Rock"... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dwayne_Johnson
