I'm not sure how to do links on this website, but here's the url for the airport's website: Idaho Falls Regional Airport (http://www.ci.idaho-falls.id.us/main/index2.asp?PageId=1050 - broken link)

Oh look at that! It's just a simple cut-and-paste to do a link here!

The local phone book, Dex, also has a printed map of Idaho Falls. If you don't wind up getting one mailed to you, I believe either Walmart of any of the gas stations should have them.

LOL! I was just coming in here to post that I spoke with a very nice gentleman at the Chamber / Visitor Center and he said he would mail a couple of maps to me.

I'll keep the phone book in mind, though.

Thanks for everyone's help.

Cool Some Other Ideas for Maps - Online

WesternHeart,

I guess I may not totally understand how detailed of a map you want, as maps are easily available using Google, Mapquest etc. Any travel site will have a map.

Contacting the City of Idaho Falls is usually useful. Here is their link for their map of the city: gis.ci.idaho-falls.id.us/website/citymap/viewer.htm

Also, using a link I posted in the other thread, this map may help you understand where certain hotels are in respect to different areas of town.

Idaho Falls Area Hotels - Map of Hotels Around Idaho Falls - TripAdvisor

I think every major website and search engine you like to use (Yahoo, MSN, AOL, DogPile, Google, Lycos etc.) all have information about travel and/or maps. Also, just search your favorite search engines for a map of Idaho Falls and you will probably find what you need.

If you have more specific requirements and you can't find it via an Internet-based map, feel free to send me a PM.

Good luck with your flight. Yes, the airport is open and has a newly paved runway (about $9.0 million) that has been totally redone and upgraded. Enjoy the smooth landing.

I hope your transition in Idaho Falls is as smooth as the long runway is now.

MSR

MSR, I'm sure it's a bit strange in this day and age; but I prefer printed, foldable maps when I'm going to be using them to learn my way around a new area. I like to be able to utilize the entire map at the same time without having to zoom to a specific area.

Too, I don't drive; and having an actual map that I can take with me has always proven to be invaluable.

I did contact the Chamber / Visitor Center last week (?), and the gentleman I spoke with said he would send me a couple different maps of I.F. They may even be waiting for me at the post office; I haven't checked my box in a few days.

Just to give y'all an update . . .

My packet from the Chamber was waiting for me at the post office today.

They did an absolutely wonderful job:
* A great, printed, foldable map
* The current issue of Prospectus
* A relocation packet with very useful and necessary information.

I have a lot of reading to do now.

My thanks to everyone who participated in this thread.

Glad to know you got it. Did they include the current issue of the Idaho Falls magazine?

No, they didn't; but I'm hoping / expecting to find an issue somewhere, once I arrive.

The grocery stores usually have them on your way out, near all the real estate magazines.
