Frankly, hubble homes suck. They are quickly built, they are bid out to the cheapest contracters, often to inexperienced ones, also stay away from CBH, same gig.

Agree with a lot of what has been said. They are the cheapest homes in the area. Lots of renters in the neighborhoods. My brother lives in one & can't wait to move. They were so desperate to get into a house that it was the best deal for them.

So from the statements here. Does that mean CBH and Hubble homes are EASIER to rent out than more expensive homes?

I don't know if they are easier to rent, however a lot of investors purchase them to rent them out or to try and turn a quick profit on them (something that is not happening very much lately). I believe the rental process is the same for every home - credit check, first and last and etc... It is just that since these houses are cheaper, people purchase them as an investment and end up renting them out. Of course a cheaper home costs less to rent than a more expensive home in a better beighbourhood and quite frankly, these houses are usually built in not so great places just because the builder wants to keep prices as low as possible.

Sorry to hijack the post. What I actually want to do is to buy a home, live in it for about 3-5 years or so and then rent it. I don't plan to sell it (unless some catastrophe happens). I guess in the treasure valley, cheaper homes=cheaper rent=higher demand is what I was aiming at. Let me know if my assumption is wrong.

The Boise area has a lot of rental homes available though, so you have to keep in mind you are competing with a lot of other rental properties too.

very good point.

wow, didn't expect so many replies. Thanks. Well I actually bought a Aspen Homes and not a Hubble or CBH. Though the subdivision is in SW Boise, close to Hubble and CBH homes. But luckily behind me is Legend Co. home in the $300K+. I hope mine home will increase in value over time. However, I have seen even the CBH increase in value for resale. Of course it won't increase as much, then again, you didn't pay as much to begin with. Oh well, I am happy so far with the home.
