Route Information
I have to drive a moving truck, towing a car carrier, from the SF Bay Area to Hazelton. I am familiar with 80, but I know nothing about 93 between Wells, NV and Twin Falls, ID. If someone is familiar with this section of road, I would like to know the following:
Is it steep?
Is it relatively straight or lots of curves?
How hot might it be on July 12?
Any help would be VERY appreciated
Thanks

US 93 in between Wells and Twin is an excellent route, semis take it all year round. You'll have a few good grades going up and a slight doozy (nothing like Donner's Pass though!) climbing out of Jackpot, NV (on the state line), otherwise it's a nice sturdy two lane highway. There are passing lanes to allow the slower vehicles to ride tot he right while others pass to the left.
Be mindful of your tire pressure with the higher temperatures and watch out for gators (tires that have exploded on the highway, they can be mean and bite you!). Wells, NV is a fully fledged little town with lodging, food and fueling services. Jackpot is a little podunk on the line so us folks here in ID don't have to travel too far to play slots They do have the same as Wells, although when I say podunk, I'm not kidding!
Coming from The City, please don't take the next hint of advice as thinking you're clueless, but watch out for deer. They can be out anytime of the day or night, but feeding time is usually sundown, full moons make all the difference, but we've just past that
If you have any questions at all, I've driven that route enough times to almost do it with my eyes closed, not recommended
Oh yeah, the temp, should be mid to upper 90's to low 100's for that time of July.

Thank you so much. My son and his family are moving to Hazelton, and I drew the short straw, so I get to drive the truck.
Thanks for the deer warning. Where we live here in California, we have an abundance of the critters, and I'm accustomed to their habits.

You're quite welcome.
The other thing will warn you about is the winds, you can get them across NV on the 80 and up 93, well heck anywhere in ID is known for wind Anyway, as you're pulling something just keep an eye on your back end and try not to over correct, not sure why I'm saying this you've probably pulled a camper or something once or twice in your time?
Not sure if you plan on stopping for the night or swap out drivers. My midway point, between Idaho Falls and Fresno was Winnemucca and the Holiday Inn Express there isn't too bad.
I would suggest if you've been pulling for awhile to take a breather in Jackpot before pulling the next grade, let her cool down a bit
Been two years since I've done the drive, but can still see every inch of road Speaking of which, I could most possibly bet the bank roll that you'll come across some road construction

Just got back from doing that same route.
Take my advice.
I 80 over Donner Summit totally sucks with terrible traffic during day light hours..
Go to bed early that night and get up at midnight and drive the route then.
No traffic no tourist no problems. plenty of fuel stations open all along the way. when you get past Reno it's a breeze from there.
Every year I go up to Twin Falls and that night time driving is the secret to happy driving on I 80.

Donner pretty much bites with traffic, no doubt. So many of the locals or so it seems, just tend to fly over that pass like they own it.
How is the road construction on that path?

Yeah, Jackpot to Wells is quite empty, however it's only 68 miles My concern is the fires though as some have cropped up around Jackpot with the latest dry thunderstorms
