Moved from Commiefornia to north ID. People couldn't be nicer. I hear it used to be really bad for California transplants, but thus far, my family and I haven't had any issues. I've fished the north fork of the Coeur d'Alene river. (90 freeway, exit at kingston and head north as far as u want. The road follows the river.) If you aren't afraid to hike in a bit, there are some awesome pools and there is no one around. Come armed though...lots of wolf/bear sign...hehe Welcome to the great outdoors!
I'm in the healthcare industry. I had a job waiting for me here. So far so good.
Good luck!

LOL, I'm in the other boat... Native Idahoan who's been transplanted to everywhere else. I'm career Army and can retire in just over 2 years, but likely won't for at least 4 or 5... seen the whole planet and I suppose I've gotten it out of my system finally, because it's time to start winding it up and go home
The day I retire, I'm headed back Will wind up with half the income I have now, and if the cost of living stays relatively the same, my expenses stand to be cut by about 75%, so I technically won't have to work, but I imagine I'll sniff around a bit and find one of those 8-10/hour deals so that I'll have something to do...
Or maybe build a forge and take up blacksmithing as a hobby...

I'm a S.E. Idaho native. I cowboyed until I was 21. When I came back from my Navy service in 1969, I became a graphic artist/designer and part-time pro musician, and that's the way I made my living ever since. Some years, I made more playing music than the other side.
Both sides led me to being employed by the Gibson Guitar Co. on 2 seperate two year-long occasions, 12 years apart. While I lived in Montana those 4 years, and have lived in other states for short periods of time, Idaho runs thick in my blood and I always come back. I doubt I'll ever move away again.

Thank you so much to everyone who has been responding! Our job search became official shortly before I started this thread and I'm remaining hopeful that one of us is going to find something in our field. The ideal plan is for me to not have to work for a while so I can stay home with my daughter and possibly our 2nd future child which may be possible depending on how much $$ he can make. We're also keeping our options open all throughout the state. When we initially started looking, I was more interested in the southeast region but now that I've dug deeper and have learned more, I'm toying with the idea of the northern region. I'm falling in love with it by the day!
Anyway, I was just trying to get an idea of just how many of those who post here actually work, or are retired, etc. I appreciate the responses!
