Avery has a trout pont where you can buy some fish food from a vending machine and the trout jumpout of the water for it. If you have four weeks why not visit Montana also ? There is a log roadhouse near Lolo hot springs called "The Jack" It's made from 3 foot diameter cedar logs with the bark still on, and there are many antique chainsaws around the place.

I think the City of Rocks is about 83 miles southeast of Twin Falls, then? But it is indeed near Almo, which has a fanstastic little restaurant with great steak (though I can't remember the name!) The nearby city of Albion also has a little place called the Sage Cafe that also has excellent food. Here are directions to City of Rocks from many points in Idaho/Utah: City of Rocks National Reserve - Directions (U.S. National Park Service) |

Hi mlpslc,
I plead directional foot-in-the-mouth! I really meant to say that Twin Falls was 83 miles northwest of City of Rocks. It was late, and I am old. Sorry and thanks for the correction. pimit2 (Bob) |

Well, after the giant potato in Blackfoot, not sure where you could equal that experience.
![]() Actually, Idaho is amazing in the variety of scenery. Craters of the Moon in east-central is quite interesting, and is actually related to Yellowstone Park. I won't go into the details, but when you figure out the connection it will give you a whole new perspective on how "small" we are. Sun Valley/Hailey is glamorous, but still VERY Idaho. Also love the area from Boise north to the Snake River area heading up into North-central, (check out Brundage for a very under-rated ski area), and the top of the panhandle is simply beautiful with some great ski resorts. Yes, there are other ski resorts other than Sun Valley! Idaho is a very large state geographically, and offers quite a bit of varied scenery and attractions. I have the feeling that millions more will discover this State in the next few decades and things might change for the worse. But I guess that is inevitable. |
