Looks like we need to revisit Grangeville next year when we return.

I know a wonderful 5.75 acres, creek, springs, fully landscape, pond, and lots of house for sale 12 miles from Grangeville. Great weather through out and espcially in winter or windy conditions. Back yard is a forest and wilderness gateway. Wild animals abound.

You all are speaking so positively about Graingeville and the surrounding areas, that it's making me rethink a move to northern ID.

It all depends on what you are looking for. Grangeville is centered to Boise 4 hrs, Spokane 3 hrs, Lewiston 1 hr, and like us, we have US forest and National wilderness in our back yard, literally. We steelhead, salmon fish, ride sno mobiles ,wheelers, horseback, cross country ski, downhill ski, hunt elk, deer, and wildcats and bears. Oh gee, not enough time to do it all. The winters here are rather mild considering northern area gets LOTS of snow, wind, rain, etc and colder for longer. Convinced yet? lol.

Grangeville...
Grangeville is great... It is true that it is like Northern California used to be...We came here a year ago from northern California with our family and love it...We started our own business (a lube and oil shop on hwy 95) It took awhile for the locals to make sure we were okay, but they treat us great... People are so nice here... I also do virtual tours for real estate... It was really hard looking on line from so far away so I decided to make it better for other people... My web page is Clear Water Virtual Imaging... I have many houses on that site in Grangeville and surrounding areas. You could not pay us to go back to California... The police are very helpful nice and non harrassing. They have no tolerance for drugs in Idaho County which is nice. You see some riff raff, but not very often...They keep to themselves...Instead of them being the majority, Law abbiding citizens are the majority... Most everybody waves at you when you are driving down the road...(NOT THE BIRD EITHER) It is a wonderful place to raise the kids...No gang bangers...no metal detectors when entering the campus...Oh and the small town everyone watches out for you... Your kid messes up and you usually know it before they get home...
I can not say enough good things about this town...But thank goodness we found it!!!

Mountain Man
Retired single guy, Montana native interested in info about Grangeville. Been living on Washington coast and would like to get back into the hinterland to finish out my time. Grangeville sounds " like my kind of town". Modest Veterans retirement income dictates Senior Housing if such is available. Nothing fancy, just clean and quiet. Much obliged for any ideas and info.

Do tell I will be there this September, scoping out a retirement cabin/house. Don't want a frilly upscale area. I like function over form. I am not interested in golfing or sailing and such. I prefer a less relaxing retirement... skiing, mnt biking, paddling and climbing. Seems a lot of what I seek is in this area. Please let me know more about this place. Thanks Charlie
