OH! I have been aware of Sage, but didn't know of his connection to law enforcement.
So, in that vein, Mts. States Resident, instead of using the word "killing" (because I wouldn't want to inadvertently cause Sage to investigte you), how about if I say that "You are slaying me over here." ???

Yep, pretty much . . . that's what I meant.

Or, did that comment mean something totally different?

Kinda a mixture of what I bolded

|
I lived in Jackson from May, 2000 - September, 2007; and yes, I have gone back for a recent visit - in fact, I was there last month for a while.
So far, out of the myriad places I have lived, Jackson is definitely my favorite.
I was absolutely astonished at all the building going on in Driggs! I think the last time I had been through Driggs was at least a couple of years ago, so it was quite a shock to see it so drastically changed.

I think the jury's still out on that.

That's a somewhat difficult question to answer. One of the reasons that I am choosing to move to Idaho Falls is its proximity to Jackson. But (a) I'm sure you may be aware of the housing situation in Jackson and (b) I don't drive; and thus Jackson can get a bit "cabin-feverish" sometimes.
Ironically, I've not been to I.F. that often (I'm blaming that on my not driving . . . although I do realize that Alltrans makes daily trips from Jackson to I.F. and back; and maybe living in I.F. and visiting my friends in Jackson will help me get over my qualms about traveling Teton Pass). And since I haven't been to I.F. that often, I just wasn't aware of everything going on.
I'm very much looking forward to moving in a few months. My friends in Jackson have been very supportive of this decision . . . they all have said very wonderful things about Idaho Falls. In fact, it was many of them who suggested I consider I.F. in the first place; I'm not sure if it would have occurred to me without their suggestions.
To answer your question, I'm pretty eclectic in my interests . . . art, farmers' market, theater, nature, history . . .
So, MSR, now do you see why I think you are killing me? (Uhm, Sage . . . not really "killing.")

BTW, MSR and Sage, apparently I really like y'all's posts . . . the system won't let me rate either one of your most recent posts in this thread until I rate someone else first.

I encountered the same problem...apparently the magic number is 20...you need to give out 20 reps to various people (w/o repeating) after you first rep someone, before you can rep that a person again.
For example, apparently I have repped you in the recent past, b/c I was told I couldn't do so (It was finding housing in IF, I think), so once I repped you, I need to rep 20 more individiuals before I can come back and rep you again!

Sage,
I hope you know I was j/k Shar-Mar. Yes, I did get the drift of what Shar-Mar was writing. However, we got you to post on an eastern ID topic. So thanks for joining the chat.

Square Ice Cream, Canyon View of River - Day Trip
Thinking about the drive between Jackson or Driggs to Idaho Falls, I remembered something everyone should do at least once in the summer, if not more.
Drive to Swan Valley- on the way to Jackson Hole, Driggs, but only about 1/2 way. Beautiful country fields. Breathtaking pull over and rest stop with a view of the Snake River Canyon.
It is interesting to see the Canyon, above Ririe, as it looks similar to what people see in the Twin Falls area. However, this is less than 15-20 miles from Idaho Falls. Thinking about how the river below divides and becomes the Snake River in downtown Idaho Falls is interesting.
There is a picnic area too.
To top off the site seeing, one must go to the single store in Swan Valley, where the two roads meet.
Square Ice Cream Cones. Check them out....for ice cream lovers, you won't be disappointed!

I haven't had a square ice cream cone; but, MSR, I can sure echo and ditto what you said about Snake River Canyon and Swan Valley. Absolutely beautiful!

Snake River Landing's "Daddy Derby"
Today is Wed., so there should be an Alive after Five Concert in downtown Idaho Falls.
Idaho Falls Magazine/Diesel Tech Magazine (published by a local publisher than publishes about 12 national magazines) are sponsoring an acitivity at Snake River on July 26th when the Ribbon Cutting for the Pier happens.
This competition is not just for dads. Any man, woman, child (boy or girl) can be a part of this Pinewood Derby Competition.
I've heard some are starting to work hard on their entries. Here is the link if you haven't seen it yet: www.idahofallsmagazine.com/daddyderby.pdf. The rules and a blank application are in the above link. If you have free time, or like Derby Competitions, or never got to participate in one, now is your chance on the new 4,000 sq. ft. Pier.
Have fun!

Yeah, I repped you as well, and then later got the same message.
You and your family are getting ready to move any day now, aren't y'all?

Yes, indeed! The movers arrive on 8/4, we hit the road on 8/5 and should pull into IF on either the evening of the 7th or sometime on the 8th.

Breer23 - that sounds great! I'm happy for you and your wife this phase of your next level of training has almost begun.
With you arriving on the 7th or 8th, we'll have to look around and see what is going on.
If you like Pro Baseball, the Chukars are having quite the interesting season. Cleosmom and others know more than I. I know they cleared the dug out one night against Ogden - and that isn't good for either team! Actually, aren't the Chukars the farm team for a midwestern baseball team? Can tell I'm right up there on my baseball.
Hope your trip is safe and smooth and you found the right place for your to live. If not, you can take your time and find a better fit once you get your Idaho license plates.
And contrary to what so many write about changing license plates etc., it is no big deal in Idaho Falls. Probably, due to the amount of tourists going to Yellowstone and Jackson Hole from everywhere.
Packing - maybe that should be a separate thread. Be it for a vacation, extended work, a brief vacation or home to see parents/friends or a permanent move, there is no other "activity" to rival packing. It would be interesting to know how many people like to pack and how many loathe it, like me.
Meanwhile, we'll have to talk about those activities you'll miss, as you may want to be involved next year, especially with what is happening this week.
