Everlast Playing in Idaho Falls!
I just saw that the artist Everlast will be performing his second show of his current tour in Idaho Falls on 8/29/08. The concert will be at Sandy Downs.
I do not like rap. However, anyone who has watched and/or heard the music from TNT's "Saving Grace," knows the sound Everlast is now performing.
I think it is great to get Everlast especially this year as he has been nominated for an Emmy his "Saving Grace," theme!
What do you think of Everlast putting Idaho Falls on his 2008 tour?

Eastern Idaho State Fair Starts This Week
With so many things to cram into the last weeks of summer, some may not realize the Eastern Idaho State Fair begins on Aug. 30. It seems like the Bonneville County Fair was just held about 2 weeks ago.
The Eastern Idaho State Fair is held in Blackfoot, ID. It is about 25 miles south of Idaho Falls and about 25 miles north of Pocatello. However, the physical location of the fair makes it just a little closer to Idaho Falls, since it is on the north end of Blackfoot.
Many people thoroughly enjoy this event each year as spectators. Some say it is the increasing variety of food offered, some like the displays, and some like the better entertainment the fair offers now than it use to. For others, it is a chance to show off their produce, or special recipe etc. they've perfected since last year and compete for a top ribbon. The rides are what several teens (and big kids too) like the best.
A Rexburg surgeon has won the top ribbon/prize for the largest pumpkins grown for several years. I don't know how he safely transports pumpkins weighing several hundred pounds to Blackfoot, without them breaking.
If you are interested in the Eastern Idaho State Fair, I've posted a couple of links at the end of this post. One is more about exhibits and entertainment scheduled and the other gives more history of this 100 year + event.
For those who think Country Music is all that is played, you may be interested to know Poison plays on Sept. 4th with other acts on different nights.
The Eastern Idaho State Fair is open from 8/30 - 9/6/08. It is always scheduled for Labor Day Weekend as long as I can remember.
If you go, please report back here what was different this year and what you personally liked. My understanding is those who plan the exhibits, entertainers etc. start planning for next year almost immediately after this year's fair is closed. You may be able to give feedback to influence different choices for next year.
Have fun if you go and plan on either walking a long way for free parking to the fairground entrance, or paying the going rate of the day (anywhere from $5-$10 or perhaps more, depending on the day and events) for closer parking. For those who have never attended, parking close can mean parking on the lawns of Blackfoot residents who don't mind the vehicles on their grass, given the $ generated. I was surprised the first time I saw "lawn parking."
Be sure to check the weather forecasts, which the major channels all broadcast from the fair grounds and take plenty of water. Even if you plan on eating fair food, you may need the water to make it from where you park to the admissions gate.

For Eastern Idaho Concerts
This is a link for concerts in Eastern Idaho: //eastidahoconcerts.com.
It does not have the "www" just eastidahoconcerts.com.
I believe Leann Rimes is being billed now. She will be at the Civic Auditorium in Idaho Falls on Oct. 2, 2008.
Please post any other links you have found for entertainment and events in the Idaho Falls/ eastern Idaho area.
Thanks,
MSR

Idaho Falls is a great place. I live in Las Vegas now, but when I was in central Idaho, I loved going to IF. Now when I get there I:
1. Avoid my ex-wife! Lol
2. Play hockey
3. Hang out at the greenbelt by the falls
4. Ski at Targee, in winter of course
5. Load up on camping supplies as I am passing through
6. Did I mention..... oh well never mind! Lol

Shelley spud days is this Friday the 20th in Shelley at the main park right in town. We were in the area last year and had a great time. A good place for family fun, games, and great food. Lots for kids to do too. Weather should be a lot better this year!

If you go to Shelley's website City of Shelley -- Welcome to the City of Shelley Homepage and about half way down on the right hand side is a link to a pdf (need Adobe reader) that has the list of events.

If you have little ones that like to swim, Pocatello has a great outdoor swimming complex. IF has an indoor pool with an area specifically for kids.

Spud Day is Awesome!
My favorite part was the Spud Tug...Thunder, hard rain and hail may have muddied the mashed potato pit, but it didn't stop this LDS Missionary Team from going for Spud Gold! The crowd was roaring to cheer them on, it was awesome!
