My wife, some friends, and I were on the southern end of the Greenbelt on the east side of the river (near Pancheri...and ironically a short distance from the Idaho Brewing Co.) and we had a very nice view. The street was lined with cars, but it was in no way what I would call crowded.
My wife was a bit disappointed that we weren't closer to the action, to feel the thud of the show. Next year we have a very nice (and mostly private) spot secured, so hopefully that will heighten the experience.
It was a really nice show, though - the only one I can think of that compares to it was the show they put on in Mobile, AL, which they did right by the USS Alabama...yep, a battleship show.

Sounds like you had a good time, breer23. I'm glad.
So, did you write a review of the Idaho Brewing Co? I can't remember and will have to check. If you didn't, please do when you can.
I hope year #2 goes a little more smoothly for you and Mrs. B.
Do you ever talk with your fellow nuclear science pals about how ISU presents the program and where to live? I often think back to a year ago and the decision the two of you had to make of where to live. I hope what those of us who answered your questions gave you accurate tips, as they pertain to you.
It would be great if CAES and all ISU Nuclear degrees etc. had a website, or even created one on CDF. More people, not less, are going to want to know the same info you did and I'm sure some of your fellow students needed to know.
So in your spare time, or maybe for extra credit before your write and defend your research for your Ph.D., maybe someone in the group should suggest a mini guide for those who will be relocating. As I said, in your spare time. Right - I know. "What spare time?" I hear your brain transmitting over the Internet. Trust me, it only gets worse. Enjoy what you have now.
We're glad to have your posts and views about life in Idaho Falls, at least I'm very glad to have them.
Thanks breer23 (and Mrs. B).

I hope this is a successful business. Oh, the possibilities of what could be opened being so close to the greenbelt, and TCOR and SRL. Some smart business people could put complimentary businesses/services close by and jump start additional growth of activities. I wonder if anyone has thought of a comedy club, or if there is enough interest?
Thanks for the pic, NCM.

Jr. Chukars Club Party on 08/01/09
The Chukars hold their annual party for members of the Jr. Chukars Club on 08/01/09. It is between 12:30 - 2:30 at Melaleuca Field. Probably those who are already members know about this party.
Jr. Chukars for $15 get admission to 10 games, get a T shirt etc. Contact the Chukars for more info.
Oh, one has to be under 12 years old to be a Jr. Chukar.
So cleosmom, IFGuy, breer23 and others, what is the status of the Chukars this year? I've seen glimpses of headlines, but can't remember their position overall. How about telling us about a game and what the cost is for an adult etc.
How is attendance this year compared to last? I think they are smart to do what every other major sports franchise does - form a group for kids - those who will be buying tickets in the future.
I think this is the link for the Chukars link: Idaho Falls Chukars - Pioneer League (PL) Affiliated Baseball on OurSports Central
Have fun.

Dawn Wells Selling a Few Things - So Long Mary Ann and Spud Fest
If baseball isn't your thing on 08/01/09, actress Dawn Wells is auctioning a lot of items today at her home in Driggs.
For those who don't know or remember, Ms. Wells has moved from Driggs to Reno. Whether or not that was associated with her DUI and other issues with local Teton County law enforcement I don't know.
I do know it is a tremendous loss to not have Spud Fest. I wish a person or group of people would step in and do they best they can to recreate Spud Fest. Who said Community Theatre actors couldn't work as hard as those who have been through Holllywood?
Good luck Ms. Wells in your future pursuits. We appreciate what you did for so many people in eastern and southeastern ID.
So why don't the other celebrities who have homes in Driggs or Teton County even make it known? There are some. Privacy is very guarded in Teton County. Perhaps they will step forward when the time is right and help to build on what Dawn Wells started.

To be honest, Mrs. Breer and I haven't made it to a game this season - yet - but I have been following them. Before this weekend, they had to win the last three games of the first-half to make the end of the season playoffs. In low A ball, they typically break the season in half, and whoever has the best record in each half faces each other at the end to decide a league champion.
Unfortunately, they lost on Friday night to Ogden, 4-1, meaning they could not win the first half championship...here's hoping they can win the second-half championship.

Thanks, breer23 and cleosmom. I do think the new facilities were needed (desperately needed); however, without a team that is winning, it's hard to fill the stands.
That is why I think the Chukars are smart to promote the Jr. Chukars Club like all major league sports. I'm just surprised it has taken this long, or I've lost track of what did happen if the previous teams had a similar club.
Guess we'll hear from cleosmom and NCM what the game was like today. Of course half of baseball, to the average fan, is the socialization and taking time to see others they want to see.
