MSR, is Alive after Five an adults only event? My kids are in Middle School and love music, is this more for socializing or for drinking?

Many Summer Evenings of Music
Alive after Five is for EVERYONE. If you scroll back through this thread, I think, there is even a mention about the art benches downtown. The goal is not to have a drinking night. Rather to bring music lovers together. I'm not sure about the dancing....maybe someone else may know.
It is always good to have more people attend these events. Perhaps a thread about the wide variety and frequency of musical free musical events are held.
I believe since today is Tuesday, there should be an EIRMC-sponsored concert on the Greenbelt. Tonight it is the "Not Brothers," local Idaho Falls residents. It could be interesting.
The Idaho Falls musical scene, except for private recitals, performances etc., is most easily accessed through the Idaho Falls Arts Council website: Idaho Falls Arts Council.
Norcalmom, read about the Snake River Roaring Youth Jam. The arts, the music etc. all for kids. Your kids may be interested. It is in about a month. It is totally free, or perhaps nominal, for jewlery art work etc. Plus, if they like stringed instruments, there are probably 2 concernts put on by the Sykes(Sikes - spelling?). Research them and see what they do year round teaching strings to youth and then their various performances. Plus, they are now bringing in competitions of "Fiddlin' " and other stringed music that didn't use to be present in Idaho Falls the same way.
There are sooooooooooooo many productions the teens, some pre-teens etc. put on each summer. The key is to learn about them early so you can get your kids registered for next year while there is still space.
So many things going on in the summer! Science Camp again, other fun things to do at little or no cost.
Now about those Chukars.......

I am loving this thread!!!
I'm currently only at the top of Page 5, but wow!
Thank y'all for all the work you have put into this thread (especially Mtn. States Resident)!
Oh . . . I realize that this thread was started last year and that I'm still reading about events that took place last year . . . but still, this is a FANTASTIC thread!
I absolutely cannot wait till for the next few months to pass so I can then move to Idaho Falls.
Blessings, y'all,
Sharon-Marie

Thanks for your kind words, Shar-Mar.
This thread has been a lot of work. However, it became a centralized place for those looking to see what was going on in the Idaho Falls area. Too many comments, when we first started this thread, were 1-3 comments about what should I do with my kids etc.
Despite so much information being a year old, the cool thing is I tried to include annual acitivities. The dates will be slightly different this year and next year, but the War Bonnet Round Up ( War Bonnet Roundup), which starts on 7/31 this year, much like the Taste of Idaho event, which I couldn't post prior until now ( Taste of Idaho | KIDK CBS 3 - News, Weather and Sports - Idaho Falls - Pocatello - Blackfoot, ID - Idaho Falls, Pocatello, Blackfoot - Idaho | Local & Regional) happen every year.
Now there are so many art activities and new events for residents and visitors, both at established locations and especially two of the new, major developments downtown (Snake River Landing - Snake River Landing) and Taylor's Crossing on the River ( Taylor Crossing on the River) hosting even more weekend events, there are constantly new, annual events to add.
If those traveling to Yellowstone National Park, which I read yesterday is at a much higher rate already this year than last, say they don't know what to do in Idaho Falls, hopefully someone can redirect them to activities listed here. Also, it is a good way to plan for some of the times locals and visitors like best. Halloween and the pumpkin fields etc. - we haven't even touched.
When you arrive, PLEASE feel free to contribute to this thread!!!!!! There are too many things happening and I have limited time. We didn't even address the winter activities and holidays, due to our personnel constraints. So much more needs written. Fresh views are always welcome!
And just in case you didn't know, or forgot, there is a great Farmer's Market every Sat. a.m. downtown. Lots of other booths etc. I wish someone who had more specific, detailed knowledge of what vendors and produce is available would post here. Right now, those interested are probably down shopping at the market to get the freshest produce.
Then again, maybe some just slept in their cars after the fireworks last night and the traffic. That is one way to be first in line for Farmer's Market this a.m.
Have a great Sat. whether you are continuing your 4th of July Celebration, or working on home projects. Especially, have a great day if this is part of a vacation time and you are reading this.

Summer, Winter, Special Event or Other?

I think Bubba's is the BBQ restaurant in the Taste of Idaho, but I could be wrong. It might be Grandpa's or a different BBQ. I'm not quite the BBQ lover some are.
This year Russian food, available locally in Idaho Falls as well as that from a new English restaurant, were added to the local event to explore new and favorite restaurants in Idaho Falls, Taste of Idaho. I think that event is now in it's 5th year. Along with new foreign food restaurants that have opened in Idaho Falls, new chains such Ruby River and even The Collage participated last month allowing those present to sample food from about 20 restaurants.
So Trace, would you recommend Bubba's as a summer activity, winter activity, family get together, or anytime activity (or other)? What did you like best there?
Thanks for posting, BBQ is a good idea to explore.

Trace_Rinaldi, Is this the same Bubba's that's in Jackson? (Are they owned by the same people?)
I think that Bubba's (at least the one I know of, in Jackson) has a fantastic salad bar . . . and not being someone who is usually very impressed with BBQ food / restaurants, I have been impressed with Bubba's BBQ.
Mtn. States Resident . . . you're killing me over here (all the way over in Tenneesse)!

It's gonna be a few months; but once I get there and start meandering around, I'll be glad to add to this thread.
I really appreciate the links you've been adding; those are a great help.

SharMar,
You are probably aware of our moderator, Sage. Per chance you don't know, he is a retired LAPD officer. So I would appreciate it if you would utilize a different word than "killing" you in TN.! Otherwise, this may be my last post. (I do hope you know I'm just kidding about my last post, but very serious about Sage's previous occupation.).
I'm curious about a couple of things. First, I want to make sure what you meant by that comment. For example, are you saying you weren't aware of some of the events listed here, or never had the opportunity to explore them, or that I want to put you to work now from TN? Or, did that comment mean something totally different?
Secondly, from what I've read, it sounds like you either started in Jackson, WY or spent a significant period of time there. Have you been gone long from the area? Have you visited recently and seen the huge developments in Driggs? (Like Huntsman Springs etc.)?
If you prefer, please feel free to send me a PM, except to clarify to Sage that I'm not attempting bodily harm with additional posts I write.
Looking forward to your help with this thread when you can. People living different places, some with kids, some without, some seniors etc. - all have different interests. It is always great to have different people add some of their favorite things.
So, of the events you've read, what do you look forward to most? You'll be in Idaho Falls in time for Christmas, with the Gingerbread Houses, and other special celebrations unique to Idaho Falls.
