nooooo, not the cutsie ones...there wouldn't be any reason to watch local news then.

I like the ones on KREM 2, and I don't really care what they look like. Let that guy from KXLY who does the morning show be the sacraficial weather guru. His forecasts are mostly a pitch for some Spokane business or another. And I agree, this is getting a little old. I would love to see something green beyond our evergreens, and a little sunshine wouldn't hurt either! Misty, I hope your daughter enjoyed her three day weekend! Snow days rock don't they?!

Our station wagon is almost completely buried, even though we cleaned it off yesterday afternoon. There are about two feet of snow or more on the ground and we're still getting slammed with no sign of it abating. Pretty wild.

Thank goodness most power lines are buried here! A storm like this would have had my little upstate NY town without power for days.

When we first moved into this house, everyone told us we live in a snow belt (about halfway between Sandpoint and Bonners) and that they hoped we like snow. We do.

Alright...I'll let you keep the weekday one but the weekend weathergirlie must go. She reminds me of a cheerful yet demented elf.

I was 13 that year and we lived outside of Philadelphia. Of course, we didn't get nearly what western NY got...but it was a fun winter. For a 13 year old. I'm sure my parents didn't agree.
oops...I'm thinking of the winter of 78. Never mind.

77 and 78 were both hard winters back in Buffalo. In the '77 blizzard, I was stuck in high school over the weekend. In '78, on a snow day, we had a Greyhound bus get stuck in front of the house.

You know, I don't really miss those days.

I remember a snowstorm in 1977. We'd been out sledding till dark and came inside to the news that school was cancelled for the next day. My mom happened to be playing some oldies on her stereo and to this day, I get a little "snow day" rush whenever I hear the song, "Twilight Time" by the Platters.
Kind of Pavlovian, I think.

Wow! I grew up outside Boston and remember the Blizzard of 78 rather fondly. School was closed for three weeks and our power was out for about four days of that. I'm also pretty sure we lost our April vacation and ended up going to school pretty far into June. I was barely in grade school though and it seems most of my memories are second hand from my older sisters and parents. I'm so glad we didn't live in Buffalo! That is just plain nasty. Give me North Idaho any day!

It's not snowing down here on the Palouse, not yet any way. We got about 9 inches yesterday though. If we hadn't been almost out of toilet paper and coffee my car would also still be buried in a snow bank. It took my husband quite awhile to dig it out. It's fluffy but once it compacts it's no different than any other snow. Stay warm up there you guys

(just joking of course, don't take it the wrong way)

I need a vacation to a warm climate...with the motorcycle!!!
Hold off on coming to SoCal for a few weeks--the snow level did get down to 1200 ft!!!!!
Mudslides and flooding in the lowlands. Hope our little backyard hummer eggs have survived the cold rains...
