Default Relocating to Moscow? Jobs? Housing? Climate?

I visited Moscow for a week this past summer and fell in love with the area. We live in the Portland Metro area and really want to find some place that has less rain and is smaller. We are considering Texas and Idaho. The area in TX we are looking at has really inexpensive housing cost compared to here. But I really don't think I could stand all that heat. So Moscow is our other choice. Would love to hear anyone's thoughts on the job situation in Moscow. My husband is in automotive parts sales at a VW dealer in Portland. I am not working at the present time but have worked in office/admin support for over 25 years.

There isn't much in the way of jobs in Moscow. Mostly it is service related jobs to support the University of Idaho. There is a small but thriving agriculture sector which I'm assuming your husband could get a job at one of the farm machinery supply places that cater to the numerous farmers. Office job probably wouldn't be too hard to find but competition would be stiff. There are a few progressive and cutting edge startup companies in Moscow and of course many admin jobs supporting the University and the various state and local governments. Overall though there aren't that many jobs.

How far away is the nearest good downhill ski resort? And is the winter mild enough to ride a motorcycle year round in Moscow??
