I started typing more info on my trip yesterday about 4:30PM, when all of the sudden the lights went out

and stayed out till 6 this morning

Had 2 paragraphs written, and boom all was gone

Blew a transformer
Anyway,
I had mentioned that there didn't seem to be a lot in Ponderay, but I didn't mean that in a negative way. As far as properties in the area, there are some really great areas off of Colburn/Culver road, which kinda does a loop from the US200 just East of the US 95, and dumps back out on the US 95 North of the US200/95 turnoff Does this make sense

Probably not

. This might also encompass part of Kootenai as well?
Their are some really nice acreage lots in the area, and it is extremely close to Schweitzer ski area, as well as Sandpoint. they do have some fast food places, and a Wal Mart Supercenter.
Wal-Mart brings up another point.
I am going to try not to sound racial here, but I try to avoid Wal-Mart around these parts, and it mostly has to do with a certain ethnicity that thrives around here. But I did go to the Wal-Mart in Ponderay, and there was quite a difference. The WM in Ponderay was very clean and uncluttered compared to here, and I think one reason is that people didn't just throw stuff anywhere, and they don't let their kids run wild throughout the store, like they do here.
I wish we would have had more time to look around at Cocolalla, Athol etc. Seems like once we got north of Sandpoint we never looked back

Maybe next trip.
We just fell in love with the areas around Bonners Ferry so much, that we just never went back south below Sandpoint during the last couple days of our trip. And to be honest with you, the Bonners Ferry area, looked just as I imagained it would. Not to big, likely has everything you would need...except a job (hence my new username

)
Everyone was so friendly and helpful. People looked you in the eye when they talked to you

.
We did go to the Priest Lake area (US57), which is beautiful as well. Not to sure I would want to live up there or not. Might be a nasty commute in the winter. Too many tress and not enough pasture for horses as well, but that might be fine for others. There are some nice properties along US2 between Oldtown and Sandpoint. Beautiful waterfront places. The Pend Oreille river paralells US2. We even saw a huge spread of land that was being farmed right on the North side of the river before getting into the Sandpoint area. Just beautiful, and probably very expensive, if one were to buy it

Also some huge properties on the north side of highway 2 as well. Didn't see any for sale though
"Paradise Valley" is as it's name says

Another beautiful area (am I using the word "BEAUTIFUL" to much

). It is located East of Bonners Ferry, just over the mountain tops. Gives you the feeling of seclusion, without being to far from anything. Not all ofthe roads in the area are paved, some of them are just gravel, so hard to say how they are in the winter. Some large farms back in there, and some really nice smaller spreads as well. I saw Bambie while we were driving through there, but I wasn't fast enough to get a picture. The Rocky Mounain Academy, a specialized boarding school (apparently for the rich and famous) also resides in the area.
Moyie Springs: This is where the property we fell in love with is located. It is about 9 miles Northeast of Bonners Ferry, and about 20 minutes to a half hour from Troy MT. Very secluded and spread out. With a population of only 650 +/- you can see why. Lots of great farmland, and just absolutely fantastic soil composition. I guess it's not uncommon to get 3 cuttings out of a hay field there, because the land is so fertile. Other than the Moyie River Dam, I doubt any employment is likely there

Like I said, I need an internet business.
Here's some pics of the property. The river view is from the lot we liked the best. It is a 40 acre parcel that has been subdivided into 4-10 acre parcels. 3 of the 4 lots have a view of the Kootenai river below, and one has no view of the river, but a great view of the valley to the east...it is also about $60,000 cheaper than any of the other lots
We are going to try to make a trip back up in the winter time around Christmas/New Years. Gotta see what it's like in the dead of winter too

I'll have to get some all season tires and snow chains...if they're even available here
