Thanks for sharing, Misty--it's so evocative! We're having a disgusting heat wave in SoCal right now--just looking at the pic makes me feel better...

So pretty!!!! I wish we had fall colors like that here in California. We go from green to dead. Its actually quite depressing. and I am even considered Northern California, that is if Sacramento is Northern. Which it isnt in my opinion
Thank you for sharing!

That was just a crummy drive by shot, you should have seen some of those groves or stands or whatever you call them. I just could not get a good spot to pull over but it was just great. Also in town of CDA was really good this year, amazing colors. I talked to my sister in Maine and she said it was a bust this year back there. Great day today, had the Vette out!

I haven't uploaded any of the tamaracks yet, but here's a few. This first one is Elk Creek Reservoir in Clearwater County. And in case anyone is wondering, that is straight out of the camera. No color manipulation at all.

This one was taken two weeks ago up the Joe somewhere outside of St. Maries, again, no color manipulation at all. It's been a beautiful autum in North Idaho.

Here's a few tamaracks for you CFF. I don't know the name of that hill in the background with the clearcut, but it's somewhere in the Clearwater and was taken late last Sunday afternoon. They're really awesome this year! And sorry the files are so big, I don't know how to resize them.

MeInIdaho, thanks so much!!! You have no idea...the thing is that for three years I've been wondering how our Clark Fork property looks with our tamaracks in full color, but I just can't take a vacation this time of year to come up and see for myself. We came up in October in 2008, but it really was too early for the full color. We've got some beautiful tall tamaracks framing our mountain view, and a whole bunch of smaller "aspiring" young ones, and I'm just trying to imagine the place I love so much with those color splashes on a sunny day, against the blue Cabinet Mts. And here you have given me almost my own view! One of these years...

BTW, your files aren't too big. Some of my own were bigger than the screen before I figured out how to resize them. You have to go into Microsoft Office Picture Manager, click on "Picture," and click on "Resize," and then save them to wherever you upload from. That's at least how I do it.
