Default Things to do near Mountain Home and Boise

I have lived in Mountain Home for about a year now. What can you do here or in Boise for fun?

I do not enjoy outdoor activities on a regular basis. The only thing I enjoy doing in Boise is going to the movies at Edwards cinema. I've considered going to the Funny Bone comedy club... but what ELSE is there to do in these two towns? Are there museums? Are there off broadway plays I don't know about? (thought I saw a commercial about it) Poetry clubs? Any interesting tidbids?

In response to things to do in Mountain Home. My son is stationed at the afb. At his graduation from tech school his superior officer had this to say to my son, "I hope you enjoy the outdoors, because that's about all there is going to be to do" I've been to to the area many times to visit my son, all I can say is that if you don't enjoy the outdoors, which we both do, then perhaps Idaho in itself isn't the place to be. MH is centrally located to enjoy all the outdoors has to offer in all it's magnificence, even if you don't care to take advantage of the world class fishing or skiing, then perhaps a simple road trip to to enjoy the breathtaking vistas that are all within 5 hours could become something enjoyable, perhaps it's time to take up photography

Mostly everything around here is outdoors based, but there is the Boise Art Museum, with the Idaho Historical Museum, right across the street, with the zoo down the road a little bit. There is a Women of Steel gallery in Garden City. In the summer you can check out the Idaho Shakespeare Festival in Boise, its a little spendy but worth it. The Morrison center has about 4 off Broadway plays a year still a little spendy, there's Ballet Idaho, I don't know when that is. Semi-pro Basketball and Hockey in the winter, tickets are cheap. Pick up the Idaho Statesman on a Friday. They have the Scene, its a pullout and it covers the week in entertainment. Also take a road trip about 2 hours North and hit up Sun Valley, it is a millionares retreat and they have a lot of shopping if thats what your into, and always have a festival of some sort.

Just looked atthe date, this an old thread.

There is also a minor league baseball team (Cubs affiliate) in Boise and, of course, BSU football.
