Default Please Tell me about Laclede, ID

Hello,
I was wondering if someone could shed some light on this little city. In particular, what are the people like, is the city clean, weather, price of real estate (bare land), etc. Any information would be most helpful.

Laclede isn't really a city, it's more a rural community located a short drive between Sandpoint and Priest River. Although there is a gas station and convenience store, you would have to drive to either city for anything more. There are some houses there, that generally tend to be older, and many have some acreage. A mix of modest modulars, older stick built, some log homes and a few million dollar waterfront mansions on the waterfront. It is a rural setting along the Pend Oreille river, and has the same four season climate as either Sandpoint or Priest River. Summers are beautiful, and winters can get to be pretty long. The elevation and exposure makes quite a bit of difference as to how much snow one gets and how long it sticks around. Figure 50k to 100k for 10 acres... a few modulars are going for around $170k. 350k will get you a 1600 sq foot log home on 22 acres.

Thanks for the info Sanddawgg, you painted a pretty good picture for me. How about the drive between Laclede and Sandpoint, and Laclede and Coeur d'Alene? Is it doable in the winter (>or=1hour)? Also, does it seem like this will be an area that all the Californians will flood to in the future or will it remain peaceful. Thanks

Laclede to Sandpoint is about a twenty minute drive, and Sandpoint to CDA is another hour, so figure an hour and twenty minutes from Laclede to CDA... The highway is kept pretty clear, so unless you're in the middle of a storm, the highway should be no trouble. Sandpoint (actually Ponderay) has a Walmart Super center, Home Depot, Staples, Safeway, and Yokes... CDA has pretty much anything else you might need.. Priest River is about a five or ten minute drive east of Laclede, a population of a couple thousand... Sandpoint is growing pretty quickly, the whole region is getting a lot of attention, so who knows what the future will bring...
