Default Trip to Idaho

Hi,
I would like to take a weeks vacation and fly into Boise. .......When would be a good time to visit before the snow starts flying.....!!! Not worried about driving in it too much, just don't want to hit alot of ice.

Would be going for relocation purposes, not really looking for entertainment, or activities. I would be doing a driving tour of the cities. Thought maybe I would drive up into the panhandle, and if I have time come back down thru WA, and OR.......not sure just yet.

Just wondering if I should wait until Spring to come out there, or if I should just go ahead and go now.

I know u guys cannot predict the weather, but what is the norm for this time of year?

Thanks

Anytime between now and Halloween would be a good bet bacause Autumn in Boise is awesome and goes on forever. The trees changing colors is very pretty. If you miss this fall I would suggest the Spring then since winter time can be snowy and cold---but winter in Boise (Western Idaho) is not as snowy and cold as Eastern Idaho.

I agree with Pineboy about Autumn being a beautiful time of year to visit Idaho.

On the other hand I would visit the areas you think you might be interested in during the WORST time of the year possible such as deep into winter and spend a week or so to see if you think you can handle this kind of weather. Visiting in a pretty time which to me is EVERY time of the year in Idaho does not really give you the information you need to know if you would like the area. If you do not like driving in ice and snow for a week how will you like it living in it for a few months every year. I know there are a few places in Idaho that do not get as much ice and snow as others.

My husband brought me to Stanley at Christmas time the first time I came to Idaho and we spent a week in 12 bellow zero temps during the day and 30 bellow or more in the nights. Course Stanley is slightly extreme. I still went back to California and started sorting and packing for my move to Idaho because I love the cold and snow and isolation.

I am not trying to discourage you just telling you what we did.

Chris

I fully agree go at the time you think you will like it the lest. Also check to see if there having a normal weather pattern and if not take that in to account to. Now if you can deal with it then the rest will be a snap if not remember it is some thing you will have to deal with most likely year after year .how we did it. came in middle of Feb (research showed it to be the coldest and snowiest time of year for Boise) cold but not bad no snow to speak of only on the Boise hills next winter Boise had record breaking snow fall and cold also found out why they buried water mains down at lest 4 feet in Boise, it is to keep them from breaking in the winter. Same reason why never to forget or wait to long to winterize your out door sprinkler systems
